Chapter 9
Chapter 9: The boy with the aquatic bat.

Hybird laid in his bed, his body exhausted by digging up graves, as well as all of the vomiting he had done. He slowly rolled over to his side and stared at the burnt wall before him. Hybird's sudden departure already had a drawback.

He had no idea where to go.

"I'll worry about it when I wake up," Hybird muttered to himself as he rolled over to his other side, and drifted off to sleep.

While Hybird was attempting to get some rest, another person stood in the forest near the destroyed village. He slowly moved his hand to his right leg. The quiet, still dark morning made it easier for the youth to pick up the non-native movements zip through the trees as quietly as possible. The redheaded teen mentally sighed as he closed his eyes and slowly wrapped his hand around the wooden weapon at his side. He quietly waited for the movement to come closer to him before he snapped to attention and swung his weapon at full force into what looked like a skull.

"You're going to have to be allot more quiet than that to catch me off guard."

***

Hybird's eyes cracked open, the sound of birds waking him up. "It's a surprise that the bird even came back after the fire..." Hybird lifted himself off the bed and pulled his shirt back on before walking outside. It was still a little dark outside. "... Water..." Hybird muttered as he slid his feet over to the nearest well. He pulled up some water and tilted his head back, letting the ice cold water sliding down his throat wake him up. He dropped the tiny bucket back into the well and placed his hands on the edges of the stone.

"It's too early for me to play your silly games," Hybird muttered "So why don't I cut the introduction... And kill you now..."

Hybird quickly dug into a secret pocket, swung around and hurled a dagger at the would be assailant into his throat.

"Come on out of hiding, I know you're all hiding..."

Hybird got his wish, as ten green human like solider fell from the trees and surrounded Hybird. "Huh... Leaf clone magic... How odd, could have swore this was a skill my clan has mastered!" Hybird ran forward and elbowed one of the clones in the jaw, which turned into white smoke and a green leaf. Hybird shot forward and impaled his fist into the sternum of another, which did the same as the first clone. Hybird stomped his foot on the ground and a plank flipped over as a hidden Kusari-Guma popped out. Hybird took hold of it's handle and swung at another clone, ripping its throat and turning it back into a leaf. Hybird then twirled and ducked as he sliced the feet of another clone, then stabbed the end of his Kusari-Gama into the chest of the clone.

Hybird didn't notice one clone quietly stalked him, and hand his weapon prepared to strike him down. But the clone met with a bat face to face. Hybird, hearing the sickening thud, spun around and looked up. His saver was in black clothing with blue designs, and held a bat in his right hand. Hybird couldn't get a clear decision on his mood, as his face remained motionless, and his eyes were covered by his crimson hair, and shirt hood. "Are you with them," asked Hybird.

"No, you," asked his saver.

"Uh-uh."

Both Hybird and the crimson haired fight swung their weapons out, hitting two targets clean. Hybird then stood up, and leaned against the red haired boy. "So, can I have the name of my mighty hero?"

"Ha... It's Pohatu... And what is the damsel in distresses name, if I may ask?"

"Hybird."

The two swung out their weapons and took down two more clones. "Damn" Pohatu started, "there are so many, who are these guys?"

"Not who, what. They're leaf clones. So long as a user has enough energy, and a leaf, he/she can make a clone."

Pohatu looked up to see how many trees were around them, and realized that there were so many trees around, that sunlight barely passed through the leaves. "Dammit! There's thousands of leaves here! And I don't think either of us can take them on!"

Hybird stood erect and placed his hands together, changing hand signs at a fast pace. "I suggest you duck." Pohatu glanced back and Hybird before basically diving to the dirt, seeing that Hybird was summoning some sort of wind spell, the small green tornado engulfing the auburn haired ninja was proof enough. As Hybird pulled his right arm back, the tornado broke into small, ribbon-like strips of wind that wrapped around Hybird's body, specifically his right arm. The wind that swirled around Hybird's arm began to form into a giant, spinning, six-point ninja star shape. Hybird twisted his body more to get a perfect launch, then swung his body and arm forward at the same time, launching the magic ninja star towards the group of mass produced leaf clones in front of him. As the star flew towards the group, it suddenly split into pieces, and sliced into each clone individually before stopping mid air and fading away. The clones in front of Hybird began to split in half and disappeared one by one.

Pohatu took the opportunity and sprung to his feet. One clone didn't hesitate to attack Pohatu, but before it could even swing its fist, Pohatu swung his bat right into the clone's weak spot, destroying it completely. Pohatu rolled and regained his balance quickly as he stopped in front of another clone and swung upward, cracking his bat into the jaw of the clone, and sending it and his bat sky high. The weight of the clone caused it to fall at a faster rate than the bat, which allowed Pohatu to hit the clone in its weak spot, catch his bat, and swing in a full circle, taking out the remaining set of clones.

Pohatu stood upright and sighed in relief. He turned to see if Hybird was alright, but didn't see him anywhere. Then he looked down. Pohatu was so busy swinging his bat around, hear nearly hit Hybird, who instinctively dropped to his knees, and leaned back, using his left hand to keep him propped up enough.

"Er..... Duck?"

Hybird could only stare at Pohatu in sheer bewilderment.
