The Journal of Silazam Grant
Blood. It was on my hands, my face. I could even taste it on my lips. There was a raspy growl in the dimly lit room. It frightened me until I realized it was me. I looked down at the bed I was on.

Her eyes. The eyes that stared at me until they grew dull and fell still. The eyes that screamed "traitor." I over looked her half naked body, crying while I did so. Her blood leaked from her neck and breast. I was an animal. A blood thirsty animal.

I stood from the bed and clothed myself. I swallowed the mucus that had accumulated through my sobs. I wiped my tears. I had blood on the sleeve of my t-shirt. I removed it and threw it in the washer. I walked in the bathroom and stared in the mirror. I was forced to look at myself.

Blood had covered my mouth and most of my cheek. There was also a remarkable amount on my arm. I remember her struggling, and how the Bloodrage kicked in, and punched her stomach, causing her to vomit blood. Then I met my eyes in the mirror. They were fading from the bright blue color they had when blood was near me. They returned to the dull grey. They used to be a bright silver. But with each new victim, they had lost their luster. My hair was clean. Long and brown and drawn back in ponytail, tied with a ribbon. It reached the middle of my back.

With another sigh I washed the blood from my body. While I waited for my shirt to wash, I looked at the her corpse. I didn't want to kill her. The remorse I had felt several times before was returning. I wanted to know what love was like. I knew at one point.

60 years ago I met another vampire named Kathrin. I had been called to serve "jury duty" at a Legion Council meeting. (The Legion is a conglomerate government mass composed of vampires known as "Elder". Elder is a title you receive after 1000 years of undead life.) She was on trial for making a scene. Killing conspicuously and risking exposing our existence. I came to her rescue, making a point that the bodies could easily be deemed as killed by an animal. I had made useful of an old friend, I had the forensics photos of the body. The council let her go with a warning.

She met with me later, and we quickly fell in love. Rather physically as I recall it...
