    Not sure if you got the answer yet, but if I know correctly a Thankyou letter is what you get when you buy a monthly collectible, if you open the collectible the letter goes away leaving the item in it's place. The letter will be in your special tab in your inventory I believe. Some people store their unopened letters in their house... Frankly I don't see why, I know I'd forget about them... Hope that helps?
