Book (unfinished) The Fates
Aj's been asking to see it. Figure I'll post what I have up. It's not finished, and I haven't written the first few chapters but you can infer the beginning by the chapters.

The Fates

The castle was starting to get smaller behind me, but I did not stop running. I didn't know what I was going to do, or where I was going, I just kept running. It wasn't long before I heard a howling of sorts. I stopped and looked around me three monsters walked up to me. They were almost dragon-like covered in scales with angular heads. With large pureblack eyes on the sides of thier faces. They walked on all fours and had razor sharp claws and teeth.
I screamed as one bounded towards me pinning me with it's massive claws. My body was unharmed fitting between its claws, but the dress was held down. I grabbed the cloth mid thigh and pulled. The sheer black material ripped leaving the edges in tatters. As I got up I spun and ran as fast as I could . While running I bit down on the sleeves on each arm just above my elbow making a hole on each arm. Gripping the sleeve I ripped it off then did the same to the other.
I felt the ground tremble underneath me with every loud thump of the three beasts steps. Looking at the flying sleeve something caught my eye. It was a foreboding cave in the distance. I figured it was my best bet in safety, but not sure how I pivoted to the right and ran towards it.
As I ran from the beasts I could feel the heat of thier breath warming my back. The darkened cave was coming closer and I was, but yards away. Suddenly I felt a blow to my back the world blurred before my eyes as I flew through the air. I hit the ground hard bouncing back up flying a few more feet.
I felt dizzy as I looked up to see the gaping mouth of the cave inches in front of me. I could hear the monsters roar and they came close, but stopped. I sat up and looked amazed at the monsters standing there not daring to step closer. One took a tentative step towards me, then suddenly a blood red strand appeared above him and broke. He roared then fell to his side with a loud thud. The other two gave a final roar of protest then ran away. I slowly clambered to my feet staring at the beast who wasn't breathing. I walked towards the ominous gape of the cave. It was ice cold the second I entered the darkness. My eyes adjusted and I found a big rock and collapsed against it.
I didn't quite understand what I had seen. Then again this was hell, the realm of lies. It had alot of names, but this was a name that I could familarize with. I murmured out, "Oh Alastar, why?"
"Do you truly want to know why?" came a voice more icy then the cold in the cave. I looked up startled and filled with fear I saw a shadowy figure looming above me. I stood up akwardly ready to run, when an arm extended towards me. "I will not hurt you come with me." I placed my hand in the cold hand that had long steely nails that brushed against my wrist making me shiver.
Looking at the figure and hearing the voice it was a woman. She led me further down the narrow passage until it started to lighten up and open up. The walls of the cave where washed in an eerie blue light, but it made it much easier to see. I looked at the figure and gasped. From behind she had black wings and long razor sharp nails and on her arm strange markings. Her hair was long down to her waist and black as soot.
My gasp made her turn to look at me. Her face frightened me even more. She was beautiful in a sense, but frightening. She had more markings on her cold expressioned face. Her eyes were milky white which made me suspect she was blind.
She turned back around and called out in her icy voice, "Sister's the girl is here". Suddenly two more figures apeared from dark corners of the cave. One had sheer white hair to the middle of her back and had mix matched markings on each side of her face under her milky white eyes. She had grey wings and a marking on her arm with the similar nails.
The second woman had silver hair to her shoulders. With strange markings on her face and arm as well. Her milky white eyes were not looking at me but towards something next to me. Her wings blood red were folded up. All of them wore the same white robe like dress tattered at the bottom.
The grey winged woman spoke first, "Good job Misery, you found her." The woman, whom I assumed was named Misery nodded, "She found the way herself bringing vermin along." Misery let go of my hand folding her arms on her chest and leaned against the cave wall.
The woman spoke again, "Let me introduce ourselves, I am Chaos, the one who walked you here is Misery and this is Death. We are the Goddesses of Fate, harpies who control the fate and souls of mortals."
She had motioned her hands to each of them in turn and I shivered at the thought of thier names. Death spoke up still not quite looking at me, "If you haven't already guessed we are blind so make your positions well known." I perked up startled, "Y-yes, of course, may I ask why your blind?" Misery answered next, "We all are, we were blinded so our judgments could not be cloudy and we can only tell the truth. Our sight only works when we gaze into the pool."
I noticed all three of them now looked almost completely in my direction. "The pool? Wait, you guys control souls. So you can return me to my living state and send me home right?" "No, we cannot do that. What is dead can no longer be living; a string cut cannot be resewn. Although I'm sure you want to know the events of that fateful day you died." This was Chaos who spoke. I was crestfallen for a second and nodded, then remembering they couldn't hear me I said sure.
Misery started, "The Prince's daily duty was to watch through the pool on the mortal world, which is when he saw you." Death cut in, "Somehow he fell madly in love. That's when he found out the color of your string was gold." Chaos finished it off, "So we were ordered to take your life personally and take you here. Otherwise, he would not have a chance to meet you. Seeing to it you were heaven bound."
"He loved me?" Chaos nodded, "To make up for the years you will no longer live, we will grant you a gift. Come here and look into the pool." She motioned to a circular raised rock wall about knee high, the source of the blue light. I cautiously walked towards it as the three of them followed with thier misty eyes the sounds of my footsteps. I kneeled next to it and looked into the blue water, "Now what?" Death spoke, "Simply say the name of the person on Earth that you knew. You will be able to see them."
My heart started to race, "Um, Anthony." The water swirled turning ice blue. Suddenly I saw the face I so longed to see since I became stuck here. He looked the same as before as handsome as ever. He was at the park sitting on a bench looking out in the distance. He was with Brittney, talking familiarly from what it seemed. Plus she was clinging to his arm. The conversation was blurred at first but soon cleared up.
"You love me right?" Brittney whined, Anthony huffed and said annoyed, "Geez Britt, Your sounding clingy and annoying like Victoria. I was happy to be rid of her and your just as clingy!" Brittney started to pout. I couldn't believe what I heard as tears burned in my eyes.
I fought the tears back as I noticed the three Fates sitting at the edge of the pool watching. Chaos mumbled, "What a cruel heart." Death dipped her finger in the water on top of Anthony's image. She pulled up a blood red string, "Ah, hell bound, hope he enjoys Styx." I shook my head and looked in desperation, "N-no, this is all lies this wouldn't happen! Anthony would never be that cruel!"
Death quickly turned towards me her glassy eyes giving me chills. "Sisters, she doesn't seem to like our gift much." Misery leaned in speaking in a cold voice, "Well let's make things interesting then." I quickly gave a scared last look at Anthony watching him get up annoyed yelling at Brittney. He stalked out of the park cursing. Misery took a razor sharp nail and cut through the string, in Death's fingers, with a flick of the wrist.
I watched horrified as a car sped up and hit Anthony as he crossed the street. The car sped even faster to get away."NO!"I screamed out as I leaped back from the pool. All of the Fates who were lounging on the edges of the pool were standing now all staring harshly in my direction. "LIES! IT'S ALL LIES!" Chaos spoke, "We are bound to not lie." I was noticing the feral, ferocious features on thier faces that thier beauty hid well.
I took a couple of backward steps then spun around and ran. I heard thier hissing, like nails on chalkboard, but they did not follow me. I tripped over a rock on my way out scraping my cheek, but I got back up and kept running. I ran and ran even after I left the cave and passed the body of the dead beast.
I collapsed on the ground cluthing my aching sides. I tried hard to catch my breath. The second I got my breathing to normal I was crying and screaming into the eternally dark sky. Screams of pain and anguish that the sheer size of the place acted like a vacuum and sucked all sound away. My entire face was soaked in tears and I could no longer breathe out of my nose.
I got up stiffly knowing that if I stayed there some manner of monster or demon would attack me. I just walked know too tired to run, but I looked up to see the rock wall of hell. I remembered Alastar pointing towards it once saying it was the entrance to hell. At least I hoped it was the same wall. So I made my way to it as I got closer I saw a grey river just in front of the wall.
