If there has ever been a day in Lithuania's life where he has never been so on edge, his thoughts so racing, it is the day he and Taiwan go to see her brother and sister for the first time- as a couple, not just separate Nations who politely exchange small talk at Summits and UN meetings and casually dance together at the lavish soirees France insists on hosting.
Kiku smiles slightly from the doorway of his home and Kim steps into view, a serenely pleasant expression on her face as the two make their way up the dusty drive, hand in hand. There's something unnamable about Japan, though, that has Toris wondering what made him agree to this. Is that a smile or a smirk? Is his shirt clean enough? Should he not be holding Mingxia's hand at this moment? What will Kiku think of him? Will Vietnam approve of little sister Taiwan's choice?
He glances at said black-haired girl, who only offers a squeeze of his hand and a reassuring smile. He then glances at Kiku, at that ambiguously polite face, at the bow he gives in greeting as they meet, and that's when the truth washes over him: Lithuania will never know what exactly Japan thinks of him.
Next week, Toris decides, Mingxia will meet the other Baltics, as well as Poland.
