When you install and run Brood War, the first thing you see is a series of images, flickering from one to the other, of a small part of a trench in a battle between men and monsters.
We see a man shooting at something on the lip of the trench, that something knocking him down and stabbing him repeatedly with its legs, and then a man standing on the rear lip of the trench and carrying flamethrowers starts drenching everything in fire until he, too, gets killed. For him it's quick, since his tanks go up in an instant.
It's just the moment that the camera looks at the face of the rifleman in the trench, screaming as the burning fuel pours into his suit and burns him alive; that moment is one of the hardest to watch of any movie I've seen. And this is poorly rendered animation, not film.
