Kigome pt 1
The smell of the damp moist earth loomed around her, soaking in through her senses and seeping into her brain.
"Muh..." she moaned. her limbs and head felt heavy, as if she'd just woken from a long, much needed rest. How long have i been asleep? she asked herself. Slowly she moved her fingers around and about, feeling her surroundings. Her senses hadnt tricked her, and from the touch of the silky sweet dew, she knew that when she opened her eyes, she would find beautiful grass beneath her. Her eyes flicked open and she almost regretted doing so. Yes the grass was exactly where it shouldve been, but the sky was the opposite of what she pictured in her mind. What had smelled like early morning at the latest was in fact, when she opened her eyes, almost dusk.
Even more to her surprise, when she looked around, all she could see was plain, rolling hills and darkening sky for what seemed to be miles.
She sat up and crouched over, rubbing her eyes. "Where am i?" she asked herself wearily.
"Oh, so you're finally up then?" a friendly voice called to her. She stood up quickly. Her eyes darted around quickly. Was her mind playing tricks on her? Was she hearing things? Surely, she couldnt see anybody, at least, no one nearby.
"Down here!" the voice called again. She turned to her left side and looked at the ground, trying to focus more on where the voice was coming from than the feel of fur at and around her ankles...
Fur?
"Getting warmer," the voice called again. This time, though her mind fought against it, she looked at the thing at her feet. With sweet innocent eyes, the black feline with one orange spot on top of her head, looked up at her...and smiled. And for a moment, she could've sworn that she waved.
She blinked twice and battled internally whether it was safe or not to pick up the cat. She gave in, and picked up the furry little ball and waited.
"Morning, Kigome!" the cat said cheerfully. Kigome screamed and threw the cat flying into the air while falling back on her own backside at the same time.
"MROW!" the cat grumbled. "What was that for?" she said angrily as she rubbed her head with one paw.
"You.....are a talking cat!" Kigome spoke shakily.
"Well, arent we miss obvious today," the seemingly nice cat spoke with an earned sense of attitude.
"But! you're a CAT!" Kigome pointed out a second time.
"And, once again, thank you for stating the obvious. Yeesh Kigome, usually you're a bit more fun to talk to."
"I've spoken to cats before?"
"What do you mean you've spoken to cats before?" The cat raised one eyebrow and strolled up along side the knealing Kigome. "Did you hit your head on the way down or something?"
"On the way down?..." Kigome rubbed her eyes again. "From where? What are you talking about? No, why are you talking at all?" She laughed a little in spite of herself.
"Because....well, arent you used to this by now? Used to me?" Though she didnt understand why, Kigome felt a little bit of a sense that she had hurt the cats feelings.
"Used to talking cats?"
"Will you get off the cat thing!?" the cat said, throwing her arms in the air. There was a hint of sadness in her voice. "Come on, Kigome! ....It's me."
"Who are you?"
"Who...?" And then it seemed to dawn on her. "You...dont remember me...do you..." the cat spoke slowly, once again at a reasonable tone.
"I think i'd remember a talking cat."
"For the last time!--" the cat cut herself off, putting her paw in front of her face. "Never mind. So you honestly dont remember anything prior to....?"
"Waking up," Kigome admitted.
"Oh wow...you really did get hit hard then. At least i remembered what happened...."
"What? What happened??" Kigome was scared now. What was she supposed to remember? What had happened? Was it something that made it lose her memory? But she didnt feel like she was forgetting anything...
"Oh my...Well...no use in crying over it just yet. Not until you learn what happened."
"Are you going to tell me?"
"Yes. And for starters, my name is Sunii. We're ...best friends. Come on."
"Where are we going?" Kigome asked as the cat named Sunii started trolling away in some random direction.
"Storms coming in. As far as i know, that means we need to get somewhere for shelter. In the meantime, i'll begin to tell you everything."
"Everything?"
"Everything, including why you're memory is gone, and why you must never ever go back to your home."

What happened to make Kigome lose her memory? Why is she supposedly best friends with a cat that can talk? Where is she, and where is she headed? Stay tuned for the next installment of Kigome, by Catamaru Skritch.
Thank you to anyone who actually got bored enough to read this. ^^
