Death Child chap 2
Death Child

Chapter 2- Last Day of School?

Ever since I came to live with John and the rest, I’ve been going to school. They taught me many things in school. Like how to read and write, how to express your feelings, and how to sing. I don’t see how I can hear myself sing with all of those terrible mortal voices blocking my sound. They’re so loud, most of them speak as if I can’t even hear them.

Not to mention the idiotic male species that attend the school as well. I can’t believe how some of them just go up and make a small mortal cry like that. They’re worse than Xello!

“Mari! You ready for school dear?” I heard a voice call to me, coming from around the staircase.

“Hendz! Hey, aren’t you coming today as well?” I asked Hendered.

“Of course! I have to pass as well silly. Even though most of this stuff will come of no use to me in the future….well maybe except mathematics. I like mathematics.”

“That’s because you like money, Hendz. You like a money making machine!” I chuckled.

“Without money, there wouldn’t be anything to like!”

“Except Melissa. How could you like that girl? She’s so…so…so Ditzy!” I stuttered.

“Like you?” He said to me, narrow eyed.

“I am not a ditz! I am kind and gentle!”

“Oh do you mean like the way you GENTLY broke Manny’s leg last week?”

“Oh just shut up, Hendered Peterson!” That was the last thing I said to him before I exited the door.

The day was nice, the sun hidden in the clouds, not bothering me in the least. I’d hate to see it raining on such a nice day though.

“You have your umbrella, Mari?” Hendz asked me as I had already locked the front door to our large mansion like home.

“Oh crap. It’s not in my bag!” My voice got higher in panic. I didn’t feel like going back inside.

“It’s okay. I’ll let you use mine if it rains.”
“Okay!” We started walking towards the bus stop.

I didn’t really know why we always took the bus when we could walk to school just in the same amount of time it did. John never let me use my speedy agility and strength outside the mansion. He snapped at me last week for breaking that boy’s leg.

I couldn’t help it. Manny made me do it. It’s his fault for calling me incomprehensible. I mean he used my words against me! I couldn’t help but not controlling my anger. I got pretty upset when John compared me to Xello though.

I guess I pretty much straightened up after that. I also got put on punishment. Not sure what he’s going to put me against. I’m not much of a TV addict and I don’t get online as much as the Geek-a-loids at school, but he DID ban me from completing my art sculpture down in the basement.

The bus came just as we arrived at the stop and it wasn’t all that crowded today for some reason. I think it may be because of the test we have in gym today. That Mizuki does work us to the bone though.

“I think it’ll be a breeze!” I finished my thought aloud.

“Finishing your thoughts aloud again, huh?” Kairi popped up from the front seat in front of me.

“Oh! Hey Kai! Yeah, sorry. It’s a habit I guess.” I chuckled nervously, my hands rubbing against my knees.

“So what’s up? You planning on doing anything today, Mari?” Kairi asked me, getting somewhat closer.

“Oh…um Not really. But I was planning on heading home with Hendz today. Why?” I asked her.

“Well, I heard Kelly was having a party Saturday and I wanted you to help me pick out a dress today. Oh could you please? I’m not sure what to decide on! If I can’t find anything, I might have to go shopping for a new one all together! Hendered can come! He can judge the dresses I try on too! What’s better than a guy’s opinion on an outfit, huh?” Kairi giggled.

“Well…If It’s okay with you…” I looked towards Hendz, waiting for his answer.

“Sure! Why not go shopping for your dress as well, Mari?” Hendz question surprised me.

“Wh-what?! I-I’m not going!”

“Aw come on. Why not? You have to come! Kelly’ brother is going to be there. I know you have the hots for him.” Kairi nudged the edge of my chair.

“I do NOT like him!” I shouted, nearly jumping out of my seat with anger.

“Sure you don’t.” Both Hendz and Kairi said in unison, emphasizing the letter “u” in sure.

“F-Fine!! I’ll go! But only because I get to dress up.” I pouted and folded my arms across my chest.

“Oh I’m sure you’ll look absolutely exquisite in a blue Donah Curran, Dahling!” Hendz chuckled and brushed a strand on my short hair behind my ear.

We arrived at our school just as we finished with the subject of the party. The school looked small from the outside. But on the inside, you just might get lost! There are 4 floors in Kindland High School and 228 crazy kids enrolled here.

“I’m going to head to class now, okay?” Hendz said as he walked farther ahead of me.

I waved my good-byes and headed to class myself. I didn’t have to worry about my books. I usually kept them in my backpack anyways. Hardly ever use my locker. Not that I can’t remember my combination. I memorized it at the beginning of the school year.

I never even let nobody carry my backpack. They wouldn’t be able to budge if they tried lifting this weight. It doesn’t seem heavy to me at all. But close to the end of last semester, a Senior asked to carry my bag and he fell straight backwards just as he put it onto his back. And he wasn’t even wearing his backpack!

Since then, we never spoke. Not that I can remember his name anyways. He was considered one of the populars and I wasn’t “allowed” anywhere near him unless he was to come near me. Puleeze. What a bunch of bull. It was his own fault for asking to carry my bag, not asking the weight of it.

I walked into my first period Geography class and sat down in a random seat. I turn around to find Jeremy. The one person I wish I didn’t have to see today. He was looking at me straight in the eyes. It seriously gave me the creeps.

“What the hell do you want?” I asked him, getting highly irritated with his stare.

“Oh I was just picturing you in that beautiful green dress I’ll see you in at my sisters party on Saturday.” He said in a “seducing” tone.

“First of all, the dress is gonna be blue. And second, Stop fantasizing about my body you pervert!” The disgusted look on my face should have made him turn green with joy.

Why was he so damn obsessed with me? Why the hell won’t he just leave me alone? I couldn’t take looking at his face any longer. The more I looked, the sicker I became.

“Get the hell away from me you freak! Just for that, I won’t be showing up to your sister’s party after all!” I slammed the chair closed in and took another seat far in the back where if he even glanced at me. “Jeremy? DETENTION!” Heh, I could hear Mr. Dunbell saying it now.

Throughout the rest of Geometry class, Jeremy didn’t glance at me not once. Once the bell rang, I got up out of my seat and was out the door before anyone else even stood up. I hope there wasn’t anything important Mr. Dunbell wanted to share with the class before everyone left. ‘Cause I was already in the second corridor, heading up the steps to my next class.

As I walked the halls towards my next classroom the windows seemed to get extremely brighter. I dashed and covered my eyes as I ran for a more shadier place. The light had gotten brighter all of a sudden.

“What was that all about?” I covered my head with my hood and walked ahead to my next class.

Just as I was about to enter the classroom, someone grabbed my shoulder forcefully and pulled me back so I could see their face. It was Jeremy again.

“Get your hands off of me, Jeremy.” I hissed under my breath and he seemed to like it.

“Let’s have lunch together-”

“Get you filthy hands off of me!” I scowled and shrugged my shoulder, trying my best not to hit him. He let his hand slide off my shoulder and his face still with that smug grin on it, pissing me off.

“Why do you hate me so much? Feels like all this hate might turn against you. Ever get that thought, Mari?” Ignoring what he said, I turned around and walked into the classroom, glad to find Hendz sitting in the back. My feet shuffled over to him and I took a seat, still pissed and red with anger.

“What’s wrong?” Hendz face covered with worry.

“Nothing really. Lights kind of bothering me though.” I shrugged it off.

“Uh oh. Better keep a look out on you. It’s possible you’re phasing.”

“Phasing? You mean I’m changing?” My pressed my hands to my cheeks, worriedly.

“Yeah. We’re going to have to talk to Jonathan about it. You should be alright for now. But if it gets serious…It may be your last day of school, Mari.” I froze, hoping to myself that this isn’t going to happen. I enjoy staying in the sunlight with the human race for some reason. I didn’t want to leave my friends and the enjoyment of having homework to fill all of the free time that vampires have. I really didn’t want anything to change. Accept maybe the fact that Jeremy keeps bothering me.
