Memories of a Childhood Garden
Memories of a Childhood Garden
by Joannda Riche

Take my hand and follow me,
To the garden where we were free.
We danced upon the softened grass,
Ran with the wind that blew so fast.
Tip toed over rocky waters,
T'was there the fairies met your daughters.
And as the waters gently sparkled,
we laughed and sang like little rascals.

That garden held magical secrets,
Of lollipop trees and mystical creatures.
Round the pear trees we would sit,
Watching the sun rays dash and flit.
We'd take a boat across make believe seas,
"looking out for pirates!" and hide in trees.

If we were lucky, and it was often,
Fresh raspberries to eat, ice crean to soften,
The colours of summer all in bloom,
Would fill our minds, and widen our eyes.
As we would wait for a secret surprise,
Behind every bush, leaf and petal,
The fairies would spy and keep us from harm,
within that world so real and so calm....
