Chapter 4
Bloody Trials, What happened to James

Planet Amphitrite,
near Astracre Plains,
in Mora Castle

It had been early evening when James had arrived to Mora Castle, wielding a sheathed officer’s Excalibur at his right hip along with a standard issue Rotweiler Beam Pistol holstered by the left side of his waist. The tall, blonde male had been sent to this particular world because of a disturbance going on as of late. This location hadn’t been on his list of things to do, but made the decision to come investigate. What the issue at the moment had been appealed somewhat to the young man. With Cadin being an old friend, young Henry had felt he should oblige too.
Letting out a dull ‘heh’, Jim told himself while crossing his arms, walking through the corridors, “This place is comparable to the Crystal Palace, however, in no way is it a Taj Mahal.” He had been looking around and commenting the inside design and comparing it to the outside of a historical monument back on Earth. Little did he know, during his critique, trouble had been brewing elsewhere.

Continuing to stride about the castle, the young man had finally arrived to a pair of large double doors, the kind that would make you look upward and say, “How vain can you get with these things,” which James had inquired out loud. Even though noone had been around to hear what he had said, young Henry had used the large knockers to indicate to any occupants on the other side to open up. Strange enough, the conceited gateway had already begun to open and made a resounding creak to spook anyone unfamiliar with the palace.
Becoming startled, James jumped a bit and then about-faced to nose his way inside to examine the quarters. Not a soul had been there. The emptiness had denoted the area had been vacated recently. “Well, there’s no point in looking around I suppose,” young Jim mentioned aloud. Exiting the room, he turned around too quickly and fell backward as some of the castle’s soldiers had appeared before him. With his heart beating from being scared, James shouted, “DON’T DO THAT!” Although he had presumed the place would not have anybody nearby.
Responding promptly, one of the soldiers had mentioned, “Sir, this place is off limits, please leave.” “Why? You gonna poke me with your fork and boot me out,” James snidely replied. Feeling a tad insulted by this remark, the grunt slowly came forward, as he did, young Jim got up and towered over the soldier. “Sure I’m tall, but I know how to use it too. Don’t start with me,” telling the guard not to do any pushing around. Reiterating his request, the guard had said, “If you don’t leave-“ cutting the soldier off and finishing, “Yeah, yeah, you’ll remove me by force,” crossing his arms and making a look a drill sergeant would make to intimidate a grunt. “Look, I have no time to argue or bullshit around. I’m searching for Cadin. There’s something going on and I thought this would be the opportunity to search,” firmly expressing his reason here.
“Well, she isn’t here at the moment, but we can direct you to her chambers,” the soldier told James. “Fair enough,” the blonde man rejoined. With the group of men walking the opposite direction that James had come, some distance down the hallway, an eerie silence befell the narrow, windowed hallway. Another one of the soldiers spoke, “Do you hear that?” and one other guard said, “I think so.” All the while, James had a composed and serious look on his face, scanning the area with only his eyes moving and ears alert. Taking notice to a low humming sound, the sudden crash that followed barely left anytime for response. The same soldier that talked to James had been impaled in the head and fell with the soldier in black armor to the floor. The dark fellow before everyone, seemed to have brought more crashing through the window and took out a few more Amphitrian guards in the process. “UH-UH,” James yelled as he unholstered his weapon and burned a hole through the shadowy adversary’s left eye that failed to approach the blonde man. The being had dropped dead.

A battle had ensued within the castle and blades had been drawn, clanking and stabbing. James, an officer in his earlier days, led the remaining Amphitrian troops to hold off the sinister foes before them. Ally and enemy alike had fallen in battle. James had done his best to egress the big hallway along with the guards being led. Three quarters of the way toward the door, the black soldiers had begun to emanate a red aura and a few seconds after, released concentrated lightning from their palms and struck down a few of young Jim’s allies. Making a one-eighty toward the armored enemies, James made several shots in an attempt for head kills and only got a five of seven.
Holstering his pistol, the tall man had unsheathed his Excalibur, making an effort to try out some close combat. “So, you going to screw around and be pansies with your fancy light show, huh,” he inquired, aiming his sword straight east of his position. “Okay, we’ll have it your way,” becoming snarky toward the opponents ahead.
Since the fellow soldiers around him appeared to be visibly drained of energy, Jim had felt bad, but used this distraction as an opportunity to slay the nearest Dark Soldier.
Footsteps had sounded heavy from the running and with enough momentum, James had caught one of the black armored foes off guard and managed to delimb the evil guard half way up the left arm. Blood had spurted out from that slice. “COME ON!” James shouted at the Dark Soldiers, inciting challenge and happened to near another and used the enemy guard as a wall to run off and jump off the head, knocking him over and switching his blade’s position for a full impale. This had only been partially successful, as now the blonde man was the target and began to feel weak in midair.
Jim had broken his fall with impaling the right leg of the enemy guard, causing him to yowl and have broken concentration on the energy drain. A significant amount had been drained from the tall man. Trying to get up by pushing himself with his sword’s tip, another dark soldier had come behind James and knocked him down again.
After his back had been stepped on by a heavy foot, the dark guard said, “Any last words before your life-force is mine?” James had thought, Oh shove it with your stupidity.” Just before the black armored foe raised his hand to an open palm, a resounding clank and thud had occurred, sending the opponent aback. “What now,” young Jim queried, irritated in tone. Laboring to face the ceiling at least, the blonde man had been greeted by a woman in armor. Not surprised by the inviting and concerned look, James felt annoyed, but asked, “Who are you and what in Sam Hill is going on?” The lady had look confused at first at the man’s expression, but answered, “My name isn’t important right now, but our future queen’s safety is. Please, tell Princess Cadin to avoid the prince or there’s the possibility something could go terribly wrong.” Unsure of what the armored lady just said, James responded, “Wha-who? I haven’t the slightest clue of what you’re talking about, but okay. Help me the hell out of here first, would you?”

After the assistance of the unknown lady in armor, James had been told, “This is as far as I can carry you. I have to go now. Be safe young warrior.” Setting the man down, the woman had seemed to poof into thin air and vanish from sight. With a wry laugh, the blonde male said, “Well, that’s not the first time I’ve seen that, but who gives damn. I have to get this,” making quote fingers, “’news’ to Pam and no clue as to what it is.” Feeling frustrated, Jim did his best to get up make his way out of the combat zone. Not knowing the specifics, he conclusively made his way to a grassy and tree populated area. Determined to regain his strength, in an instantaneous flash, transformed into Saint Terra after shouting, “Earthly Intervention.” When this transpired, some distance away, a blue haired girl had made the approach to see if he was okay.
Getting some words out, Jim had felt comforted to be able to recognize someone, “Hey Cadin, how’s it going? I’ve got news for you.”
