Coldplay Concert: Viva La Vida
Oh. My. God.

Okay, so. I haven't had this much fun at a concert since I saw Train a few years back. It was phenomenal. I went yesterday (Wednesday, July 22nd, 2009) to Coldplay's Viva La Vida tour stop in The Woodlands, Texas. We forgot the camera and binoculars, but no matter. The memory will last forever.

According to Chris Martin, we Texan boys and girls apparently "make a lot of ******** noise." heart Indeed, love; we do make a lot of ******** noise.

My favorite songs of theirs (all of which were performed!):

  • "Glass of Water"
  • "42"
  • "Clocks"
  • "Postcards From Far Away"
  • "Viva La Vida"
  • "Fix You"
  • "Death and All His Friends"

Oh my Jesus, my hands are still shaking, my heart is still pounding, my voice is still gone (and it's only been five hours since we walked out of the pavilion). When everyone sang along to "Viva La Vida" and "Fix You," I almost wanted to cry; it was so, so beautiful and powerful and inspiring and ... gah. There's just something about being with several thousand people to sing beautiful songs in unison with an incredible band.

I saw the band on a small platform near my section in the pavilion where they performed a cover of "Billy Jean." God, Coldplay knows how to entertain better than anyone I know. Christ on a bike. Everything was amazing until this loser decides that it would be a good idea to go piggy-back on her boyfriend right in front of my face. I don't normally curse or say vulgar things, but I couldn't help but smile to myself when someone shouted, "Hey, b***h; I didn't pay a hundred bucks to stare at your a**." She still didn't get down, and I could only get a blurry picture of the back of Chris' head in the middle of the song. *sigh*

We loved the little butterflies that shot out of the canon when "Lovers in Japan" started playing; they were so beautiful! I got a few for future scrapbooking purposes. We also loved the yellow balloons that were bouncing all over the pavilion during the performance of "Yellow;" that is, until the drunken morons in front of us took out sharp objects (pocket knives?) and poked the balloons before anyone in my section got to hit them. Jerks. There are so many jerks at concerts, especially when there's alcohol being served (which is pretty much every concert, ever.) But we ran into three friends from my school, which was pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. C:

We brought home the free Coldplay concert album (LeftRightLeftRightLeft) to listen in the car on our way to the beach tomorrow. I'm so excited. ^__^Here's the link to the free download, directly from their website; it costs you nothing, it's safe, and it's legal - given to you for free by the geniuses of Coldplay themselves. Enjoy their music; it's some of the most beautiful stuff to hit the world of alternative rock. I promise. Simply gorgeous, fresh, profound, and inspirational. You will not regret it. I will never forget this concert or this experience. Ever.
