Continue from yesterday~
Japanese young people spend time with girlfriend/boyfriend. Christmas is not religious event for them because almost all Japanese are Buddhist. We know foreign country's Christmas is really big and romantic, so young people or parents who has little children gives present for family or someone important for them. But some people, like my grandpa, they doesn't interested in Christmas. Basically Japanese didn't even know about christmas before secound of WW. Exchange present or decorate house or store are relatively, new custom. And, all Japanese know about Christmas now, but still, the new year celebration is more important for us.
