This is why it's so hard to make this decision, Dai thought to herself, still listening to Tristan's heartfelt apologies. I can't leave him like this; he's just too good for me. No matter what he thinks, anyone that has the guts to admit this is pure gold.
Dai looked up; the beautiful, haunted words had stopped. She listened to him slide down the wall near her door, and it took her no effort to imagine him there, knees drawn up to his chest, his head in his hands, gorgeous brown hair like a curtain, covering his face. And she stood up.
She walked over to her desk and lightly, making no sound, grabbed a pencil and a slip of plain white paper. She made a few marks on it, then folded it. Still silently, she slinked over to the door, and she could feel him there, their breathing seeming to become one without either of them even taking notice. She waited intil he stood up to slowly walk away, as she knew he would, and when he did, she slipped the paper under the door.
Tristan looked down and then picked up the paper, feeling the uncertain vibes coming from it. On it was a single word and a shape;

He looked up, then slowly turned the knob on the unlocked door.
But she was gone.
