Runaway and Never Come Back

As I sit in my grade seven/eight classroom looking out the window as the younger kids trample the freshly fallen snow. I smile weakly when I turn to see one of my friends Max knocking on the window as if to get my attention. I wave and watch as he breathed on the window and fog it up, when he had a fair amount of room he started to use his finger to write me a message asking me why I wasn’t outside for recess. I sighed lightly as I picked up my pencil and wrote in big capital letters Detention. He blinked and started to laugh at me, even though I couldn’t hear him threw the new fake glass windows I knew exactly how it sounded. I had known Max for over five years now and treasured every moment I had with him. I looked around the room and frowned; there were two other people in the class with me, their names are Katrina and Josh. Katrina is in grade seven just like me and is one of my best friends, we are both A average students and didn’t usually get in trouble, Josh my other best friend and Katrina’s boyfriend; on the other hand is a C average student and is always in trouble. And it was is his fault Katrina and myself were in here, he had passed us both a note during class saying that are teacher was a total idiot and that she should quit being a teacher. Sadly this caused us to burst out laughing which made the teacher suspicious and came over and took the notes from us seeing what they said. Normally we would have been able to talk are self’s out of it saying that we found them on the ground and felt awful for laughing but Josh that idiot had signed his name and put are names on it as well. I glared at Josh as I remembered the reason. Katrina was also glaring at him and finally spoke “Who in their right mind signs their name AND the person they are passing the note to?”
I laughed lightly “Well Kat that someone would be your boyfriend,” I couldn’t help but laugh again when she groaned.
“Don’t remind me!” She exclaimed as she started to lightly hit her head on her desk.
“How many times do I have to say it? I. Am. Sorry!” he was clearly angered that we were still mad at him for doing something that was just plain stupid.
“Josh, we understand that you are sorry, but anyone with common sense knows not to sign your name!” I frowned as I looked out the window again to see Max sitting on the ground outside of it waiting, for the three of us to get outside so that we could get on with are normal day. I turned and looked back over at the other two “Okay we need to get out of this classroom I’m tired of sitting in here when we should be out there,” my voice was strong as I spoke. Katrina and Josh looked at each other before turning to me smirking.
“You sure it’s the outside you want to get to?” she smiled and wiggled her eye brows at me as she looked on the direction of Max.
“Y-yes I’m sure,” my face turns a deep shade of red when she finished saying this, Katrina was the only one who knew how I felt about Max and how I had felt this way since the moment I met him. Josh looks at us confused as he looks at Katrina.
“Wait…I don’t get it what else could she possibly want?” Josh asked looking at us as if we were talking in code. Josh was always very dense and didn’t realise peoples feeling. The only reason he was dating Katrina was that I had told him that she loved him, and even then he had said that he loves Katrina as a friend too.
“She meant that I would most likely want to go read under a tree as well, and I guess in a sense she was right,” I glared at Katrina as I said this warning her not to say anything that she would regret. Katrina simply shrugged which made me sigh in relief.
Josh smiled “Oh! Well we could always go to your reading spot and hangout!” He said this excited as if he had come up with something really smart. I laughed lightly at what he said and shook my head.
“Josh you just find a way to convince the teacher that we can go outside before the recess is over,” Josh rolled his eyes at me when I finished speaking and saluted me as if we were in the army and I was his higher ranking officer. He walked up to the teacher and started to talk to her in a really animated way, waving his arms around and even going as far as the fall to the ground and plead with her. Katrina and myself couldn’t help but chuckle to are selves as he did this. When he was done he turned around and gave us a thumbs up, I looked to the window and saw that Max wasn’t standing there anymore. Josh went ahead of us to go and find Max, and Katrina took this time to stop me while we were walking in the halls.
“Listen you have to tell him, he’s in grade eight and will be going to high school in a couple months! Do you want him to go and not know that you have loved him for over three years!?!” Katrina was glaring at me obviously angered with me, she sighed and looked at me seeing that I was upset “Listen I know how you feel, I was like that to remember? But then you helped me get Josh and now I want to help you…”
I nod my head to her knowing that what she was saying was true and that I needed to do it today “Thank you Katrina…” I smile as I run ahead of Katrina to the front doors and look around for Max; I spot Josh and run up to him “Josh! Where’s Max I need to talk to him! Its important!” I had a huge smile on my face as I spoke; I was ready to do this I was ready to tell him that I loved him and that I always had.
Josh blinked then pointed in the direction of the basketball court “He’s over there but…” I cut him off before he could finish talking.
“Thank you Josh!” I run in the direction of the basketball court going over in my head how I would do it how I would tell him. I slow down as I see him just ahead of me and frown when I see my sister in front of him and him blushing. I stop just out of their sight but in my range of hearing and listen.
“I-I needs to tell you something…” I instantly recognised the voice as Max’s.
My sister blinked confused as to why he was acting this way “What is it Max?”
Max’s face turns a deeper shade of red as he speaks again “Y-you see…I…I’ve loved you since the moment I met you…I…I was hoping you would become my girl friend…” he was looking at the ground as he spoke.
I gasped as he spoke and turned around, I already knew my sister loved Max as well and that she would say yes to him so I didn’t have to stay to find out. I ran in the direction of the abandoned area of are town. I knew that no one went over there, and I also knew are teacher wouldn’t notice I was gone till Katrina or Josh said something. Tears ran down my face as I ran as far as my legs would take me, finally I stopped when I found myself in a part of the town I didn’t recognise, I sat down in an ally and didn’t move, I wasn’t planning on ever leaving I was planning on staying there and never going back.
