Meanwhile at the dungeon, Sairene was still crying, and the shivering of her body was occurring non-stop. She was really scared and she doesn’t know what to do. And for some reason, her ankle wasn’t healed yet and she doesn’t know if she walked once more, it would be death for her. She somehow regretted that she brought herself into the mansion, and she, being so reckless, put her into this kind of situation.
I thought I’m going to be free…but I guess it’s really on my blood to be not free… She thought as she curled herself more, hugging her knees and dipping her head to it. She silently sobbed and the tears were already wetting her. She looked haggard and dirty.
Nobody could blame her if she grew up fearing the vampires and angels. Rich to her memories, her father brought her out of the empire and let her fight with tens of vampires flying around and in no time, attacked her. When she wasn’t able to fight back, her father became so angry and he even sent a bolt to her. And that was the start of all. Well, she managed to ward of the vampire fear already, yet the angel fear came. It was when she was being held by the angels, and she was still young back then. She thought that they’ll hurt her, but because of her continuous kicks, the angels got mad and they made her paralyzed. And so, she was scared of both races.
As her mind reminisce those events, a clunk sound was heard. The gate of her prison cell was being opened. She looked to the vampire guards and with a confused look, she saw the guards smiling at her.
A vampire guard, whose hair color was goldenrod and eyes light blue, spoke to her, “You’re one lucky human, girl. Emperor Sylphireth summoned you to his dinner tonight.”
“He’s right, young lady. And so, hurry now to your feet and you’ll get dressed. You don’t want the emperor to send you to immediate death right?” The other vampire, with maroon hair, mocked her and laughed at her.
Sairene stopped sobbing, yet her eyes were still filled with anxiety. When she tried to move, a jolt of pain sent her eyes to shut.
“What? Young lady! We can’t afford to lose any minute. Hurry and get up!”
“I…can’t…” Sairene replied.
“What do you mean you can’t? We haven’t cut off your limbs yet!” The other vampire of the three, with silver hair and green streaks, said as he laughed.
“I’m serious…I can’t…”
The maroon-haired vampire guard got pissed off and approached her. He grabbed her by the wrist and forced her to stand up. “AND WE’RE SERIOUS AS WELL! Now, GET UP!”
Sairene sobbed once again as that jolt passed by her spine, “Oww…”
“Wait!” The goldenrod haired vampire guard exclaimed for halt. “There must be something wrong with her feet.”
“Aw, come on Terence. You’re always sweet when it comes to girls. Why don’t just--,”
“s**t!” The maroon-haired vampire guard was cut off when he heard the other exclaimed. He asked, “What’s the matter?”
“Her left ankle was highly poisoned by a vampire zombie.”
“How can you tell?” The silver-haired vampire guard asked.
“Look at the marks…it’s obviously the marks of a vampire zombie.”
“What should we do then? Emperor Sylphireth was expecting her within an hour,” The maroon-haired vampire guard said and looked at his pocket watch, “We only have 45 minutes left.”
“What’s more important was to take this girl to the infirmary.”
Sairene wasn’t able to speak to them, but she was happy to hear that the goldenrod-haired vampire guard was kind enough to take her to the infirmary. Yet, a mind-battling thought occurred, that they might be punished by the emperor.
As much as she tried to move, it looked like that she cannot do it anymore. Her eyes were getting blurred by the minute again and after that, she passed out, with her breath hitching.
