Hello ppl of gaia!

Whats new? Well anyway I have decided that if I want to be an editor when I'm older might as well start working on like a column or something so I have decided to turn my journal into a freelance column. I just got this feeling yesterday, so bear with me! biggrin

Have you every wonder if saying I love you is beginning to be overrated? I mean that saying I love you to a person nowdays, they either get freaked out and say I think this relationship is moving to fast..you get my drift, or they say I love you back and start thinking woah! What's going on, I thought everything was going great and then you drop the "L" word down? It could also be that the "L" word is also used carelessly. I mean, people nowdays say the word "love" after knowing them for about month..I mean you start to think that after knowing me for a month you automatically love? Well, my question is when is the appropriate time to say "I love you"?

Yea you are right. It can be overrated at times.

Telling someone you love them is a serious step and it's important to really think about it and wholeheartedly mean it before you say it. And it's hard to know when your own emotions are beginning to play tricks on you. So where do you draw the line?

Then a lot of people use the "L word" as a tool. You know -- I love you and if you loved me too you'd do ... whatever it is that they want. It's complicated.

And when some body tells you that they love you feel obligated to say it back. That's only a natural reaction, but what if you don't feel the same way? What if you're not sure how you feel? Things seem rushed.

All I can concer is that love takes maturity and yet even mature people have problems with it. The easiest love there is in my opinion is the "Philia" type of love -- the non-romantic kind we share with our closest friends and family (though even those relationships have problems.)
