Broken Pieces of My Soul
The place where I'll post random rants about my life and/or some of my random scribblings. Please don't judge me just because of what I write--I tend to find that I often write during a certain mood.
Poems (Fall '08)
These were actually homework, believe it or not. I just decided to post them. Feel free to leave comments on them.

Regret
An invisible knife that shreds and rips away at your chest.
The poison that burns the mind to agony
The bitter taste in your mouth
The salt in your eyes
It takes you by the hand,
leading you from the path of sanity
The silent madman who chokes,
strangles, drowns you to
death
The cold room of isolation
with walls so white they blind
Reason
calls and waves to you,
helplessly stranded on the far shore
The piercing shriek at night
Forces insomnia upon you
Ringing
eternally
in
your
ear

The Same
Why must it always be the same?

The same white walls
the same smell of disinfectant
the same beep of monitors
the same dimly lit room
with fli k ri g fluorescent lights above
The same general shape of someone lying there
as the distant TV (always in a corner of some sort)
rambles on without notice or care
The same feeling of helplessness
and emptiness
the same trails are taken
by the same salt-water drops
the same sounds escape with every breath
and the same sting is felt

Why must it always be the same?

Dear Sky
Oh Sky, why do you cry?
are you hurt? are you sad?
or do you weep for joy?
are your tears for the newborn sprig of grass
or are they for the withered hundred year-old cereus?
Are they for the accomplishments of the human race
or are they for how polluted the world has become?
Oh Sky, are your tears for your friend, the earth
Who in all eternity, you will never be able to reach?

If I were your tears,
oh Sky,
who would I fall for?

Into the Abyss
They have fallen into the abyss
Where, lying in wait, is a vortex swirl
But who's to say it isn't a bliss?

It doesn't seem anything's amiss
as people wait to see what unfurls
They have fallen into the abyss

No one thinks they will miss
those who've given it a whirl
But who's to say it isn't a bliss?

A silence hangs over, as with such incidents it exists
And then shouts the earl
"They have fallen into the abyss!"

So where lies the point in this?
It does but matter to a girl
But who's to say it isn't a bliss?

The crowd thins, and they reminisce
of the days they spent when the leaves did twirl
They have fallen into the abyss
But who's to say it isn't a bliss?

(Invisible or not) Ink on Paper
The flow of words on a page
Thoughts and feelings that are dulled by the
mouth's use

Minds painting, sketching, coloring
endless pictures as words are taken in
or recorded

The perspective--different in another's eyes
opens the mind, heart, soul
to another way of life

Song of the heart
Song of the mind
Song of the silent
It all starts with mere words on a page

(My) Small Comfort
The warmth of the sun on my face
As I lay here, going at my own pace

Wishing for a shower of rain
to come and wash away the pain

The cool grass beneath my feet,
Gentle trade winds add to nature's beat

as my mind replays my favorite songs
and there alone, I kind of belong
