Chapter 2
I raced home. Mum and Dad were herding the sheep into a different paddock. I ran into my room and dived onto the bed. I snuggled right down and before a minute had past, I went into deep slumber.
Music was playing loudly but I could only just here it. Everyone around me was unrecognizable as they were wearing masks. People were dancing . I was also laughing and dancing. I felt amazing. A boy stood in-front of me, his eyes gleaming from the reflection off the disco ball. He wore a small dark mask. He was also laughing and dancing yet most of the night he had just been walking around lonly. I made him dance, and he was enjoying it. I never wanted this night to end. Never. A teacher stood up on the stage. The music stopped. "We are announcing the queen and king of this night now," said the blurry figure. "Our queen is, Milly Jason!" Everyone screamed and I jumped onto the stage where a crown was put on my head. "The King of this night is...
"Milly! Hurry up! It's dinnertime!" My older sister Cathy yelled. I hated her. We always argued and even though she was four years older than me, I usely made her cry. I had been having the dream of my life, and she stopped it before the best part. "I will have vengeance!" I whispered. I ran down the hall and into the kitchen. "Cath..."I stopped short. Mum and Dad were in the room. "Ahem... Can I have a drink of water?" That was a close one. "Sure." Said Mum. She tipped one egg onto my plate, followed by a few chips and two sausages. "Thank you."I said. Cathy looked at me suspiciously. I pulled her an evil look. I would have to settle this later. I ate my dinner hungrily and had another helping, before leaving the room and entering the lounge. I sat down on the couch. That dream had been strange. Our school disco was to be on this incoming Thursday. I didn't have a date yet but I planned to ask Jared, a year younger than me, too the disco. He was fine most of the time but his best friend had just left this school. He could be a control freak sometimes and also, bullied everyone who didn't obey his set of rules. He had had many girlfriends but he dumped most of them. He wouldn't have been my first pick. He was the best looking boy in the school but I didn't go on looks, I went on personality. Sammy was going with Sean( Anne and I despised this because he was a complete dork and Sammy was way to good for him!) Anne was going with Billy. Sally with Oscar. Ray-lean with Frank. Poor Lara. There were no good boys left for her. Lara was 10 but even though I was two years older than her, we were great friends. Maybe she could have a go at loosening the new boy, but I doubted it. He would be off limits to everyone for a least a few weeks. Thats just the way it went. He would find his place eventually. I smiled. I couldn't wait for the dance. Would I really be queen? Who was going to be my king? It must be Jarred. Who else could it have been? Those eyes. Those magical eyes. They can't have belonged to him. They were too special and warm. I would just have to wait and see. Just on time. Cathy had just entered the room. She was unaware to the fact that I wanted revenge. She sat down on the couch. Unfortunately for her, I had switched it to history channel. Her favorite soap had just started minutes ago but there was no way I would let her watch it without a fight. " Give me the remote." Her tone was stern, as if she didn't want to be disobeyed. " Come get it," I said in a playful voice. " Give it to me now," She said, starting to get impatient, but my game had only just began. "Sure." I mimicked chucking it across the room. She had already jumped out of her seat before realizing I hadn't even thrown it. This made her very angry. Before I had a second thought, she dived on me. The weight of 60 kilos was compressing the air out of me. In a last attempt to win this, i hurled the remote over the back of the couch. She immediately jumped off me and made her way around the shaggy couch. Quickly, I dived over the back and managed to snatch up the remote before she did. Before she could dive on me again, I jumped up, side stepped her and made for my room. She was fast on my heels but she wouldn't beat this cross country winner easily. I mimicked steeping to the right before diving to my left, into my room, and slamming the door in her face. Unfortunately, there was no lock to my door. I made a quick job of a barrier by sitting my desk in front of my door and to add to this barrier, I sat down on the desk myself. I opened one of the draws and pulled out a book i was reading. I was a real book worm. Most books were good books and just the other day I had finished reading "The Lord Of The Rings". Now I was on a much smaller book and I was less then a page away from finishing.
Sarah couldn't believe what had happened. Getting caught was definitely not part of the plan. She never got caught. She had been on the run for more than a year but now she was sitting in a cell, counting the days before the years would be gone and she would be free again. But until that time came, she would need to create yet another master plan to give all the people who now deserved it, what only she could give.
I grinned to myself. I loved the feeling of finishing a book. A kind of warm feeling. Once it sank in, I begin to get the kind of empty feeling. Now I was finished. Now I had nothing to read and it was only Friday. I had nothing to read during the weekend. Curses. I jumped off my desk and moved it back to it's original spot by my window. I opened my door only to find Cathy standing there on the verge of an anger tantrum. She eyed me with gritted teeth, just the way Miss Phillips usealy did. I threw the remote at her and continued to wards the kitchen to ask mum if we had any books I hadn't read lying around the house. The odds were low but it was worth a try.
