This "journal" will basically contain random thoughts, poems, dreams, and the occasional rant or two. It'll be as fun as I can make it...or as emo as it can be...either way, it'll contain stuff.
Hurricane (and college) Woes
So, I began my freshman year of college about 3 weeks ago, and I failed to recount my experience of my first week after that week was over. Then, I failed to do so on the second week. Third week arrives and...I almost didn't write again. But, there's a hurricane on its way, and that coupled with all the homework I have, makes for a pretty stressful time.

To begin, my first week (and my second and third, for that matter) of college was awesome. It takes some getting used to the "routine" and the odd schedule of courses, but once you get the hang of it, it's much easier than people lead you to believe. Trust me, the first week of classes was strange. It had been a while since I had to adapt to a new system of learning and a new type of school administration, so that was an adjustment I needed to make. Then there's the studying. As of today, I can safely assert that I still fail epically at studying. I just don't "study". I'll read my textbook (for every class...except History), but I don't think that's considered studying. I do my homework on time and stuff, but the amount of reading that's required catches up to you very quickly, especially if you have poor time-management skills...like me.

Then today--though some could argue for yesterday, but I don't cuz nothing really "happened" until today--I (well, "we" would be better, since I wasn't the only one who found this out) found out that the hurricane that originally would not affect us so much is making a practical beeline for our shores, our small but large city in its path. So now there's academic and life-preservation worries. I am completely forgetting about all of my schoolwork (except History, cuz I could probably use the hurricane to catch up on my reading for that class) until Sunday cuz I just don't have the will or energy or level of concentration to focus or think on/about complex numbers (Algebra), early development of the mind (Psychology), making my autobiographical narrative poonage (English), or even corrupt Christopher Columbus and the annihilation of the Native Americans (History). It's just too much. What with all the worrying and uncertainty of just how bad this thing'll get, whether our apartment building can or can't withstand hurricane force winds, and whether we should leave with my mom's friends or not. *sigh* This whole hurricane dealy sucks. I just hope that things don't get incredibly bad and that our area will be mostly intact once the brunt of it moves over us. All we can do now is wait, pray, and hope for the best...along with nap, eat, and not think about all the homework that awaits on Sunday... sweatdrop
