Ayame started with using a single kodachi and moved to using two as she got older. At first the kodachi was just a stepping stone to go up to a katana, but eventually her style became so centered around the two short-blades that a katana wasn't even needed.

A standard blade. There is nothing special about this katana and Ayame has never actually been seen using it, preferring the smaller blades which suit her. The blade is a rich onyx color. It was her cousin Akegata(Sai) whi gave it to her when he felt she was ready to move from her kodachi, although she never did.

__________________________________ V. The Story.
Born on what is called the leopard plane, Ayame would be considered leading something of a double life. From birth to age six she lived on the leopard plane. However, she was raised in the dark, feared for her dangerousness and need to be protected. It was said that she was the container of the phoenix spirit, and this prophecy was indeed true. Sh was taken away from her mother at age two, never to see her again for it was forbidden. It wasn't until her guardian, Takiyama Shoushi showed up that she had any sort of human bonds. The two formed an unbreakable friendship through their time together. Near her sixth birthday, Ayame fell ill with a fatal illness, she hardly ever woke up, some doctors even said she was comatose, but Shoushi knew she wasn't. A few months after her illness had struck, a demon had broken through the Gate of Kaibyaku and Endingu and was heading straight for the Kurohyou palace. The leaders of the three main cat planes met and made a decision. They decided that the demon would be sealed into Ayame and sen to the human plane. If the girl continued to stay ill in the human plane she and the demon would die. An unfortunate loss, but one that may have to happen. While the leaders were deciding, Ayame was near her life's end. Although she had didn't very much left in her, she and Shoushi made a final bond, a spiritual bond that would bring both to death if one died. This bond started to heal Ayame though, from Shoushi's spiritual energy. When the time came to seal the demon away, Shoushi and Ayame would not allow the leaders to separate them, so they were both sent to the human plane once the demon was sealed.
However, once in the human plane, it was a whole new life for Ayame. She had been separated from Shoushi and left alone on the streets of Konohagakure no Sato. Her illness was gone, but now she knew nothing of what to do. Her entire memory was wiped. Instincts, although not quite human kicked in and helped her survive. Ayame may have been cured of her illness but was not a healthy child. She was wondering the streets of Konoha begging for food, digging in trashcans and living in boxes. Soon all of the stress that life was putting on her gave way and she phased for the first time into her cat form which was a black panther. (Explained in kekkei genkai) Since she was still young though, her phased state looked much more like a large black cat than a black panther cub.
One day on one of her begging trips, Ayame was seen by a pair of twelve year olds who were shopping at the market. These two captured her and took the little cub Ayame home with them. They fed her and took care of her. In the morning though she had phased back into her human form and tattered clothes and all, she took off back to the life she was so accustomed to. What she didn’t know was that the twelve year old had seen her bolt out of the house.
She spent the next four years much like she did when she was young. Begging and salvaging for food, sleeping in boxes or under bridges. It was just what she was used to. Ayame couldn’t really even think about living in house. She had only experience for such a small time that it was almost impossible for her to do.
Somehow though, Ayame got herself into the Academy without a parent and started taking classes, mainly just learning to defend herself. She had never really actually thought of being an actual shinobi. With her extremely foul temper Yoruyanaka had a hard time making friends and most of the time she ended up hurting those who got or tried to get close to her.
At the age of ten the two Kiranekos who had found her the first time found her once again and dragged her back to the clan house. The two now sixteen year olds convinced Ayame to stay with them and showed her that they were just like her. In the end she ended up moving into the clan house but showed no respect to any of the clan members and was almost kicked out several times. The family continually tried to teach the girl, but most things seemed hopeless.
After a few months of staying with the Kiraneko’s, Ayame finally started to change for the better. She started to treat people with more respect have manners, being human really. It was then when a sudden changed Ayame’s view on life.
She had one of her demonic rage outbursts and ended up killing the girl, Chiharu, that had saved her from the life on the streets. Ayame had come to know Chiharu and Akegata as her adoptive parents. Even though they were just sixteen but also engaged.
This event devastated Akegata, Ayame and the rest of the Kiraneko Konohagakure Clan faction. They had the girl checked and found out about her second inner demon and forgave her for the entire incident although she never forgave herself. Throughout the next six years she made friends with Giroro who helped her move along from her hatred past which she now hid. She advanced from an Academy student to a genin and then from a genin to a chuunin.
Over the course of the next few years in her life, Ayame became much like what she is today; very civil, kind yet lazy. She’s friends with practically everyone she meets and is highly respected by the clan. She has had very few Omon outbreaks after she was released from the depression of her adoptive mother dieing and even made a new best friend, Giroro.
