Chapter 6- The Terrifying Nothingness
The next day, in Mr. K's classroom, Seo stared out the window and spaced out. He had killed a man. No. He had killed a boy. He had killed someone..with no mercy or remorse. His eyes began to water as he thought further about it. The class ended, and Seo lazily walked to his next class, getting knocked down by someone he'd been bullied by for years. He didn't know his real name, but everyone just called him 'Ed'. Ed sneered at Seo as he hit the ground. As he landed, he felt the EX Crystal in his pocket and smiled. If things got out of hand...no. Seo thought back to the day before. He did not want to kill again. The thought was terrifying. Ed laughed as Seo got to his feet. He pushed him onto the ground and elbowed him in the ribs. Seo groaned but did not dare yell. Ed hurts more when you yell..he had remembered. Ed looked at Seo. "Hey. I wanna try something I saw in a cartoon." he said. Seo's eyes widened. "Cartoons break the laws of physics!" he yelled. Ed wasn't listening. He picked Seo up by the ankles and shook him up and down. Seo was laughing in his head. "I never have anything in my pockets!" he was thinking. Then the smile faded from his face and the laughter in his head stopped. "The crystal!! he shouted in his brain. He had noticed it just as it began to slip through his pockets. It clattered on the ground and Ed dropped him next to it. Seo's hand darted out to grab the crystal but Ed stepped on his hand and Seo groaned in pain. Ed reached down and picked it up. "You were fighting for this little pebble?" he said mockingly. Ed sighed. "Oh well..pebble or not, you're not getting it back." Ed laughed and held the crystal in a clenched fist. Seo's eyes flared with anger. "Give it back!" he shouted as he ran at Ed. He jumped in the air and sweep kicked Ed's head. He landed in a crouch and jumped forward from the position right into Ed's chest. Bleeding and having trouble breathing, Ed collapsed. Seo smirked and picked up the crystal from Ed's now open palm, being sure to use his right hand. Seo smiled and hummed to himself as he went to the class. He had won.
Or not. He had been sent to the principal's office for being late and beating up another student. Seo stared the principal in the eyes. Franklin spoke to him slowly. "Seo. I hear you beat up this child for a ROCK. Is this true?" Seo nodded, with no emotion. Franklin sighed. "Let me see the rock, boy." he said. Seo slipped the crystal out of his pocked and held it up to Franklin in between his index and middle finger. Franklin's eyes widened. "Hmph..so you know of the crystals, I presume?" Seo nodded once more. Seo spoke softly. "Are YOU competing for the position?" Seo asked, moving the stone closer to his left hand. Franklin closed his eyes and nodded. But his head never moved back up. Once he began the nod, Seo had touched the stone to his left hand and instantly transformed. The blade of light was stained with the blood of Principal Franklin. Seo laughed to himself. As before, there was no evidence. Seo reverted back and slipped the stone into his pocket. He decided to go home a little early today.
Seo stopped near his house. He wondered if mom was home, but then smacked his forehead. Of COURSE she wasn't there...
He thought back to last night.
Seo had been tossing the crystal around for fun and catching it with his right hand. But then..er..he missed. Not wanting to lose his own little game he snatched it with his left hand and grinned. Then he remembered why he wasn't using his left hand. The light had quickly overtaken his body and he was standing as he had been earlier that very same day. He burst open the door and it fell to the ground, forcing mother awake. But she soon drifted into eternal sleep. Seo was in front of her in a split second, crushing her throat with his own hands. "YOU NUISANCE!" he shouted as he heard a snap. He released his grip and his mother's lifeless body fell to the floor. Seo smiled and went back upstairs as the dead body slowly began to deteriorate.
He groaned. "Now I have to keep making my own food and get my own money and pay the bills for the house..."
Seo stepped through the doorway into the living room. His mother's body was beginning to smell. Seo looked away and took some food into his room from the kitchen. He went up to his room and began to think of everything his life had just become. Seo smiled evilly at the ceiling. He liked it.
