We went out to the coop around 4 pm today, and everyone lined up at the fence, as usual. Tom put a bale of hay in for the chickens to sit on. Mom suggested putting the turkens in with the adult birds and leaving Mr. Burby and Milton alone. I've been thinking about finding a new home for Milt, since he's so small and gets picked on a lot. It's just not fair to keep in a situation where he'll get pecked at all the time. When I got in the coop, I tried letting the turkens out, but more chickens came in, so I had to remove them one by one. Mr. Burby is sneezing a lot again. I tried to convince my parents to let him stay in the house for a day or two, but they refused. I wish I knew how to get them to let him come home. I'm getting really worried about him. Burby really is one in a million. For some odd reason, the turk-turks didn't want to snuggle today. They followed me around, but they didn't like it when I tried to pet them. The other day was a different story though. I picked up Jenny and she settled into my lap pretty quickly. I kept petting her and she started to fall asleep in my arms. As that was happening, Gilly came in and tried to take Jenny's spot on my lap. So I said out loud, "Come over on my other side and I can hold you." I was just talking, but sure enough, Gilly immediately went over to my left side and nuzzled her head under my arm. It really surprised me. I wonder if she understood what I said and acted on it, or if she just noticed that she could come over to my left side, regardless of what I said... I told my Dad and he said "So I guess this means you can talk turkey." We laughed. The chickens were snuggly today though. Even Skunk, who hadn't snuggled in a long time, came up to me today. I set her on my lap and started petting her, but naughty Marcie pecked at her. I pushed Marcie away, but she kept coming back, at first because she wanted to get at Skunk, but then because she wanted to snuggle again. She buried her head up the sleeve of my shirt.
