I know how that feels now, even if it's not a kid. A cat that you've raised since it was a baby, they are you're babies too. I've had my cat for ten years now, and I was told today that I might only have one year left with him. God, just rip my heart out already and get it over with. I'm gonna feel so devistated when that time comes, no one would even know how much I'd be suffering. But, I'll somehow get through it. I'll need some major distractions though, lord...
