You, Me, Napoleon, and Some French Guy

There is far too much silverware in my house. This is something that I often realize as I am unloading the dishwasher. It may seem random, but it makes me curious - Corporate America, when has it ever become a requirement to have fifty spoons at any one particular moment? Just rather impractical if you want my opinion. The American economy is spiralling downward: the house market is terrible for buyers and sellers; the war isn't making any bit of a dent, and the stork is still bringing home the corpses of family members; the evil in this country just keeps growing - I suppose that the government is beginning to realize that there's no point in trying to enhance our image, seeing that we're not that much of an icon for freedom and democracy anymore;and every damn movie in the theater is about the same thing - the future.

The future is not going to happen. Our flying cars will turn into ashes, and the towering utopia that has been imagined in the mind of many a generations is being burnt to the ground because of war. Apparently, most people don't realize that science is busy: cheerfully counting the crowded pieces of plastic that each human person contains, and trying to find the tools to repair the fractured pieces. War fare is not that tool. And war fare isn't going to solve anything.

Humans have this vauge idea that the most threatening things in their lives are mother nature, and other human beings. They're wrong, every last one of them. There's something else, a stronger force in the world that, for some reason, is hiding right beneath everyone, undetected. Right under them, and they would never suspect it.

Shadows. That's right, shadows. The darkness that follows around the ankles of innocents, and hides in the corners of standard living - a reverse projection. They aren't what science says them to be. They are portals, between this world and another. As unbelievable as it seems, it is true. It is not quite what you would call a person's mirror image, barely even representing that. Shadows are the mimicked evil that the host would carry in the neighboring world. They grow in light by feeding off of the heat and warmth it gives - which is exactly why they follow living things, and interact the ways they do.

I'm one of four people in this dimension that is able to see these shadows for what they are. Each shadow is a different sort of demon, and feeds off of a human's life source. Its dangerous to follow a particular person for too long though, unfortunately, because a host can hear their shadow's voice. Often, from what I know, humans refer to them as a "conscience," which sounds just as ludicrous as everything else in this universe.

The shadow is the inner evil of a person. Every human has evil in their heart, hence every human has a shadow that walks behind them. Shadows cause the chaos, and disturbance in this world. They can even transfer from one person to another, and feed off of more of the negitive energy that the homo genus just seems to be perfectly supplied with. It is impossible to avoid shadows, unless one envelopes themself in complete darkness, during which the shadows will slowly devour their spirit, then their soul, their body decomposing soon after.

My name is Galahad Tamesis, and I am one of four people who are supposed to stop this world from crumbling into the rubble that it is currently destined to become, I am one of four without shadows.
