Days fly on by and slowly Riku begins to prefer hanging out with Terry more and more. Terry happily accepts the company and enjoys every moment of his company.
"So you have no clue as to why you go sailing?"
"Well...I just want to see everything there is…. We live in a world, not just a cluster of beautifully beached islands. I want to know why and how…everything." She shrugs.
"Heh, I can relate to that feeling." He smiles lightly in amusement as he remembers how he wanted to go out and see other worlds and why they ended up here.
"Can you really? That's a first for me!" she smiles. "It's nice to know, ya?" She chuckles lightly. "I sounded like Wakka, oh goody!"
"Ha-you did! But it is nice to know. You definitely are something else…."
"You ain't so normal your self hot-shot!" She grins.
"Why do you call me that…!?" He asks a bit frustrated.
"Isn't it obvious…?" She blinks innocently at him. His eye twitches in annoyance as the realization hits him and grimaces at the thought.
"How about we change the topic? Why don't you ever wear the normal uniform? Or anything girly in that case…."
"Girly never was my forte and probably never will be. The uniform-meh I guess you can say it is too girly for my tastes." She shrugs tilting her seat carelessly. They had finished their assignments not too long ago and were just passing the time. "I guess if a friend asked me to, I would wear it. Why they would ask, I don't have the slightest clue, but I would." She says thoughtfully and then grins her trademark mysterious grin. "Lucky for me, I have none so I'm home free. A strange positive for a strange negative, don't you agree?"
"Now there's a problem that must be remedied." He then grins, ideas forming in his head.
"What are you getting at…?" She eyes him suspiciously. "If you expect me to befriend one of your freaky fan-girls, you can just forget it! You have to be out of your mind to actually even consider that an option!"
"Damn, there goes that plan." He snaps his fingers in disappointment. "Well then, how about their main guy himself, me?" He leans his elbow on the desk as she looks at him, completely at a loss for words.
[Did I hear right?! The guy who use to hate me with such a passion-I guy I despised-as my friend?! Is that possible?! Is I event logical?!] "I-I-I d-don't know…." She stutters helplessly for something to say. She bites her lower lip, anxious and scared all at once. The bell rings, signaling the end of class.
"You can think about it, I'll wait." He smiles softly, ruffling her hair. She stares at his smile in a daze almost, even more at a loss for words. "What is there something on my face?" She snaps out of her daze, blushing and hides it by rummaging through her bag.
"N-no, there's nothing on your face! I was just thinking about something…."
"Okay then, well c'mon, let's head to the roof."
"Uhh yeah, coming, just give me a sec!" She grabs her lunch and they sneak off to the roof, undetected by anyone. They eat their lunch laughing and talking about nothing in particular when weekend plans come up.
“So…you wanna hang out this weekend?” Riku asks lying beside Terry on the roof of the school. They had finished their lunch moments ago and decided to laze about.
“Hunh…in public…?” She blinks innocently and he laughs.
“Well duh, what else would it mean?” She puffs her cheeks scowling as he continues to laugh at her clueless-ness . She turns her back to him, glaring at the floor besides her. He snickers and stares up at the clouds. “Well…?”
“You’re serious…?” She turns her head to see his face and he nods. “Uhh…sure, why not….” She shrugs, lying on her back once again.
“Cool, so what do you want to do?”
“Whatever is fine, I’m up for new things.”
“But I want to see what you do.” She gulps and laughs nervously.
“Oh I do nothing special, trust me.”
[Either she doesn’t trust me yet or is hiding something…then it is a bit of both I guess if she’s hiding something then she would only tell someone she trusts about it. Hmmm…I wonder what….]
The bell rings loudly as they quickly head back to class. The week goes by quickly and the weekend arrives. The kids rejoice and rush out of the school as the final bell resonates through the building. Terry tales her sweet time to avoid the rush and silently slips out of the building undetected. The squeals of fan-girls reach her ear and she sighs.
[You have to be kidding me! Do they ever stop!?] She walks through the crowd and grabs Riku’s wrist. The girls begin to protest and try to stop her but she just sides steps them, pulling Riku along. “C’mon, leave the hot-shot alone. You do want him to keep his pretty looks don’t you?”
[Pretty…? Either she is complimenting me or making another wisecrack at me….] His eye twitches a bit from the possibilities of what she meant. The girls sigh and pout, scowling at Terry’s back. She barely even notices, preoccupied about what to do for the weekend. It then hits her that she is holding his hand and she quickly lets it go.
“Sorry about that…didn’t realize I was holding it….” She says blushing softly. He blushes lightly himself and grabs a hold of her hand again.
“We’re friends, it doesn’t matter if you do or don’t really. You can if you want to.” She grins childishly and nods, holding his hand a little tighter. He smiles and they walk home hand in hand. People notice this strange little sight and begin to whisper.
The next day, they spend the day in all the places terry goes to. She shows him some of her favourite islands and some of her findings on her excavations. People notice them talking and laughing through the streets of the market and just gawk at the sight. They hardly notice or care and spend the day together.
They sit on the sandy shore watching the sunset; relaxing form the race that just took lace that Terry had one. Terry slowly stands, stretching since there is not much light left.
“I have to go now…sorry.”
“Really…? Man, I didn’t even notice how late it really is!” he whistles, standing up.
“Ha-ha, yeah, the time just flew by. Thanks….” She smiles at him softly and he stares at her smile.
[I never really realized how beautiful her smile is….] He snaps out of his daze, feeling arms wrap around him for only a split second. By the time he looks, Terry is already heading back. He watches her retreating figure, a small smile forming on his lips.
Terry sighs, sitting on a branch of a tree besides the house. Kairi leans out the nearby window.
“So, whachya’ do today?” She rests her chin on the palms of her hands.
“Meh, nothing really….” Terry shrugs. “I hung out with Riku all day.” Kairi practically falls out of the window from shock.
“With who…?” Kairi checks her hearing, trying to make sure she heard right.
“Riku, you know, tall silver haired boy with the aqua eyes? Girls adoure him like no other.”
“Oh…just making sure I heard right. No fan-girls mob you?”
“Kind of, I helped him escape them as per usual. We hung out at places where I usually go. Speaking of which, I have to go check something.” Terry stands on the branch, preparing to jump down.
“Hey Terry, are you and Riku-um-going out?”
“We wha-?” Terry falls from the tee, having lost her footing form the question. She groans lightly and slowly stands, rubbing her lower back from the shock pain. An obvious blush is present on her face so she hides it by looking down and dusting herself off.
“Are you all right?! I’m so sorry!” Kairi is about to bolt down and check but Terry raises her hand, stopping her.
“I’m fine, no need to worry. I’ve been through way worse than this. And no, we’re not going out. What gave you that idea?”
“Well you two have been spending a lot of time together.” She twiddles with her fingers. “And it seemed like an obvious reason as to why he would.”
[So just being friends is that far fetched of an idea…? Did it ever even come to mind?] “Oh well, now you know. Hey can you toss down my messenger bag? It should be by my room door.” Kairi quickly does the task.
“Where are you going?’ She asks as Terry slings the strap across her chest.
“Sailing, I’ll be back sometime tomorrow.” She waves as she begins to walk off to the shore.
[Hmm…who goes sailing at this hour?] Someone spots the silhouette of a figure in a boat from their house and start to follow them silently. The follow Terry to the Crystal Cave and stare in awe at its wondrous beauty as it gleams from the light of the fire. [So this is where she goes…but where is she?] They look around and see her lying on the slab blindfolded. Her arms are crossed over her torso, as if a corpse waiting to be sealed in its coffin. An eerie feeling fills the atmosphere and they take a hesitant step back. Their foot knocks into something and they look down to see a book lying on the floor besides her bag. They pick up the plain black leather bound book and flip through the pages curiously before starting from the beginning and reading the neatly written words within it.
