Stand Together Or Fall- Chapter 8
Stand Together or Fall

Chapter Eight

Roku slowly sat down on her throne, pressing her hand against her stomach to ease the pain. The castle’s personal doctor had given her something to help her heal but told her she shouldn’t go after he sister just yet, that didn’t matter to her; there were other ways to torment her little sister-ways no mortal could accomplish themselves.

“Maybe I should dispose of her this time.” Shyna strolled over and casually sat on the steps.

“Nobody is disposing of her.” Roku growled. “I need her.”

“You’re too soft on her.” Shyna stretched out over the steps and tilted her head back to look at her ‘Queen’. “So she’s your sister big deal. I killed mine.”

“That maybe so Shyna, but and your sister are nothing but silly mortals, we are Telek’s and in order to accomplish my goal I need her by my side.”

Shyna pursed her lips in thought then slowly smiled, a brilliant idea forming in her mind. “What if I dispose of her friends, then she will be broken and easy to manipulate.”

“What do you know; there is a brain in that worthless skull of yours.” Roku smirked. “I suppose you could…”

“Goody!” Shyna clapped her hands together.

“But not yet.” Roku cut short the blonde’s celebration. “I need to break her down a little first.”

“How will you do that?” Shyna tilted her head curiously.

Roku just smiled.

Tonya jolted awake and quickly sat up, looking around the dark room while trying to steady her breathing. It was a nightmare, a horrible one, but just a nightmare. She wiped her forehead with the back of her hand and sighed deeply, assuring herself that everything was fine, Storm and Raduko were fine-they were alive.
But still.

She bit her bottom lip hesitantly before sliding off the bed and making her way to the door, opening it quietly and peering out. Everything was quiet except for the rhythmic drumming of rain on the roof. She stepped out and looked at Storm’s room door.

He’s alive. She told herself. But I want to see for myself.

She grasped the door handle and slowly turned it, gently pushing it open and stepping inside. Storm was sleeping peacefully on his back with on arm over his stomach, his hair falling over his face slightly. A smiled pulled at her lips for a moment as she studied his features and decided he was rather handsome. The smile soon faded when she realized that they would probably go their separate ways once her sister was defeated. She made her way back to her room, closing the doors quietly behind her, and rested her body against her bedroom door as she watched the rain fall onto the window; she closed her eyes and listened to the soothing rhythm.

Were you worried, Tonny?

Her eyes snapped open and she scanned the room, was that her imagination?

No, no Tonny, I’m quite real.

“Sister?” She scanned the room again. “Where are you?”

So close and yet so far.

“What do you want?”

Just to talk sweet sister, we don’t really do much of that these days.

“That’s your own fault.” She frowned. “You didn’t have to do this Roku; you could have left them alone.”

I’m doing this for us, Tonny, remember all those kids that picked on you? All those adults that looked down their noses at us? At mother and father? I’m trying to put an end to it!

“Killing innocent people isn’t the way! Not everyone hates us, some people understand!”

Like who? Your new boyfriend? She chuckled. He’s just using you until you ‘defeat’ me, he doesn’t care about you and Raduko defiantly doesn’t, he’s plotting to kill you while you sleep!

“He has his orders! And Storm does care!” She held her head and slid down the door.

He doesn’t Tonny, like everyone else he hates you, the only person you can trust is me!

“Shut up!” She screamed. “Leave me alone! Get out of my head!!”

“Tonya, are you alright?”

“Storm?”

“Yeah, let me in.” She slowly stood and opened the door, stepping aside to let Storm in. He looked around for a moment then turned to face her.

“Are you alright? I heard you yelling.”

She slowly nodded. “I guess…I don’t know…maybe I’m stressed…”

“So you’re hearing your sister’s voice?” His brow rose.

“I don’t understand it myself; maybe I’m going mad…”

Storm scratched the back of his head and sighed. “Well…do you want me to stay with you?”

She quickly shook her head. “You don’t have to…”

“I want to if you’ll let me.” He closed the door and gently grabbed her hand, leading her to the bed. “And Roku may keep out of your head if I’m with you.”

“And if she doesn’t?” She asked as she lay down.

He smiled. “Then I’ll help keep you sane.” He sat on the floor and leaned against the bed. “Night Tonya.”

“Night…” She stared at the back of his head. “Hey Storm…”

“Yeah?”

“Do you…do you trust me?”

“Of course, why do you ask?”

“No reason…” She closed her eyes. “No reason at all.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Raduko stepped out of his room and looked down the hallway to Tonya’s, he had heard her yelling during the night but figured she was over whatever the problem was when he didn’t hear anything else, and if there was a serious problem Storm would have told him. As if on cue Storm stepped out of Tonya’s room and closed the door quietly behind him, Raduko made his way over, looking at Storm’s bedroom door when the other man noticed him.
“I thought you were sleeping in there?”

“I was worried about her.” He rested his hand on the wood. “Roku was somehow talking to her and it…it shook her.”

“Yes, Telek’s have that ability but I didn’t know it could be done from such a great distance.”

“Maybe she was here?”

Raduko shook his head. “I don’t think so; if she was she would’ve killed us.”

Storm nodded. “Tonya’s still asleep but it shouldn’t be long before she’s awake, then we can continue on.”

“Where to?”

“I’m not sure, Tonya knows the land pretty well so we just follow her lead.” Storm looked at the other man sternly. “Without question.”

Raduko frowned. “Such a bond you have with her.”

“You’ve got your orders from your King so follow them.” He almost growled, ignoring Raduko’s comment.

“I am, but it doesn’t mean I have to like it.”
