Grey sat quietly on the edge of the large fountain. The wind was cold this early morning. He pulled his cloak closed as a gush of wind blew through the garden, ruffeling his dark auburn hair. Leaves fluttered down form the trees. The garden was a beautiful sight to behold.
"Grey." A tiny voice called behind him. Grey looked over his shoulder. A tiny girl with blonde and black hair came running down the steps the lead from the palace to the garden. As Grey stood and turned towards the child he noticed a small bundle of flowers in her hands.
"Carley it`s early, what are you doing awake?"
"Mommy told me it`s your birthday. I got you a birthday present. Lady Erin helped me pick them" The little girl ran up to him and held out the flowers. Grey could see that her blue and white dress was covered in dirt. He gently took the flowers. The little girl smile widened, her blue eyes sparkled. "Do you like them?"
"Of course I like them, thank you very much." He placed a hand on her head. Carley looked up at him. Her mouth moved but there came no sound.
"Carley?"
Again the little girls mouth opened and closed with no sound. Slowly their surroundings began to crumble, the ground vanishing before them.
“ Carley, look out!” He went to grab her but she disappeared into the darkness.
“No....”
Grey fell to his kness. Everything Hurt all of a sudden, his arms, his chest, his head... everything. He looked down at his hands, they were covered in blood. Grey closed his eyes tight and began to scream.
