A while back, I entered a small poetry contest where the top 45% voted on the top ten winners. It was quite interesting.
I had previosuly joined the poetry contest two times back, with two poems I thought were real winners. XD
In the spring, I decided to enter again, and I wrote a strange poem called the Ortensia of Ice. I was quite inspired by one of the stories I was working on, and began to believe in wonderlands and daydreaming and such. XD
Oh and it paid off. XD <3
Well, a few days ago my mother presented me a letter from the poetry contest. I previously received a letter saying it was going to be published, but I didn't see much about it. So, as usual, I fixed corrections, sent it back, and I wasn't even intending to buy an anthology or anything. I was just entering for mere fun, for just taking time.
So I opened the second letter and realized that my poem had been picked as one of the top ten. I immediately began to reread the letter over and over again; it was like a pleasant dream.
I went back to my computer to check the poem that I had entered. When I began to read it, I was amazed at myself. I wrote that poem? What was I feeling when I wrote that? It felt like I had poured my heart and soul into that poem, as if I was in some kind of trance of something. It's amazing.
I'm still surprised not that I won, but I was able to create something so powerful. I can't help even thinking whether that poem is magical.
I guess it's kind of the same situation when I was working on another story, and I told the story in an innocent point of view, and most of the plot revolved around a specific character that really intimately carried a lot of my kind of feelings. The story's kind of psychological, but look back, whenever I pour my heart to something, they turn out quite better than expected.
And the Ortensia of Ice is a magical example. ^_^- I was surprised so many voted for me. ^__^- Subarashii! <3
