Prologue
In the land of Aesla, there once was a silver dragon who was placed with the responsibility of watching over all living things. He was stern, yet kind and likeable. Everyone revered him and none spoke ill of him. But then, a dark and mysterious portal opened the skies of Aesla. The Aeslans were concerned but nobody questioned its purpose, “Our Lord, Aes, would never allow anything to harm us.” They all said.
But, it was not Aes who had created this portal, nor did he know from whence it came. Aes tried everything he could to close the portal, but nothing seemed to phase it. In fact, the portal only opened further. Years passed, and all of the Aeslans became increasingly aware of the massive hole in the sky. Until one day, Aes gathered all of his greatest and most powerful warriors and priests to use all of their energy, in an attempt to close shut the portal, which had become known as The Void. Unfortunately this plan backfired and The Void, which was before blocked by a transparent shield, opened up entirely. The Void engulfed the entire planet, the sky became a deep shade of black and red, the trees died and became wicked looking, the water became tainted and dark, the wind carried with it an evil presence, the light faded and gave way to the shadows which had taken residence even in the hearts of the people. The entire land of Aesla had become a barren and desolate wasteland, ravaged by sorrow, misery and darkness.
Aes spread his wings and used all of his energy to force the darkness and death out of the world. Several months passed and it seemed as though everything had reverted to normal. This drastic change seemed to be the last stage of The Void’s curse, but as it turns out, the worst had yet to come. Suddenly, a dark wind passed through all of Aesla, and this wind traveled from every direction to a single point. Aes was horrified to discover that The Void had resurfaced. He hurried to the island where the wind was leading, and upon seeing the black and red swirling portal, he used every last reserve of his energy to stop it from opening. But, all of Aes’ energy was still not enough to damage The Void. A large blast of blinding light erupted from within the void and Aes knew that the seal that tethered whatever was inside had been broken. Aes felt too drained to even stand, let alone fight whatever was forcing its way out of The Void.
At last, the dark presence manifested itself. Two long and thick arms struggled against the sides of The Void. Now there was a head with two glowing crimson eyes forcing its way out, and a torso covered in scars, and two giant wings with cuts and holes along the bottom, and two titanic legs along with a tail which had a point at the end of it.
Once out of The Void, the gigantic black dragon stood up and glared down at Aes with a most fearsome grimace, it's black wings outstretched maliciously. The dragon grabbed Aes by the wings and forced him into the ground.
Aes was startled as he heard the dragon speak to him without moving its mouth. “Don’t worry little one, I’m not going to kill you. But, I can’t let you pose a threat to me. I will take control of this entire planet and bathe it in shadows, darkness, and blood. You're pathetic control over this domain is over and I, Cryos, will enslave it's people.”
The demon snarled and threw Aes to the ground again. Then, placing its hand over the dragon, it created a giant aura around its hand, which concentrated into a black and crimson ball. This was shot at Aes with tremendous force. He could feel his body becoming heavier and heavier as the ball enshrouded him. Before the ball completely destroyed Aes, he curled into a ball and sent out a protective shield around himself. The black dragon bellowed as he and the silver dragon became stone statues.
Aes had sacrificed himself so that the demon was prevented from bringing harm to the land of Aesla. The Black Dragon, Cryos, would never be able to hurt the Aeslans.
