FLAG
IF there was a flag
That could wave to the light in the morning breeze
Or change a mind without hesitation
It would define how proudly I walk
And in what tongues I must speak
It would send me to war with its face stamped on my clothing
This flag would not speak
But instead have others speak for it
And would never have the same voice twice
It’s there, just there
Waiting for a chance
To stain us with the proud ideas of the dead
IF there was a flag
