we're seven drunken pirates...
Heh, speaking of pirates, me and two of my friends are going to see POTC 3 next Wednesday or Thursday.
Just thought of that 'cause I changed my buddy icon on AIM to "we're seven drunken pirates; we're the seven deadly sins" from the Flogging Molly song.
Anyway, I wanted to talk about nationalism and patriotism for a sec.
How come people can accept when Americans sit there are bash their own country, but they flip about foreigners bashing it?
I don't get it.
For a minute there I was thinking, "well maybe they're afraid of war." But there is such a thing as rebellion, riots and a Civil War, which I think is worse than foreign warfare, so... really.
I was thinking about it because I was just listening to Amerika by Rammstein, and it goes "this is not a love song... this is not a love song. I don't sing my mother tongue- no, this is not a love song."
And then it continues onto a rather sarcastic- sounding refrain of "We're all living in America, America- it's wonderbar [wonderful]. We're all living in America..."
And I've heard people boycotting Rammstein because of that.
Can you blame them, though? They're German, are they not? Did we not defeat them and war on top of destroying the beautiful city of Dresden with fire bombs?
I mean, it doesn't make it okay just because they're German, but it's still more understandable.
But what do Americans have against this country- especially the rich Americans?
They're the ones spewing all this anti- America crap when they're the most fortunate people on this Earth, in America or any other country.
It's just ridiculous. I could say a lot more but my brain fell asleep right after my final today, so I'm not going to.
On a very different note... do you guys know about Diddl? I think that's what they're called. They're these cute mice- stuffed animals and stuff. Dunno if it's a show or whatever but they're cute.
