--Back in the Realm of Tormented Souls--

"I promised her..." Jack whispered to himself as Tak stepped forward, his golden pocket watch clutched within his ghostly white hand.

"Truely sorry dear boy, " Tak spoke with his empty eyes locked upon young Jack, Chrono smirking behind his comrade. " ..but this watch of mine says your time is up." Waving the face of the watch through the air, Tak turned his head around and nodded at Chrono in silence. Taking that as his signal, Chrono drew his key from his cloak and leapt through the air. His weapon raised high over their victim's head..slashing through the wind like an ominious laughter from the gods.

Looking up slowly, Jack's empty eyes of hollow darkness fell upon the looming weapon of death careening towards his defenseless soul, yet...he moved not one step from his spot on the ground. Looking around him he saw the dectives still sleeping soundly, and his friends not too far off were much too immersed in their dreams to awaken to the scene before them.

"I'm not going anywhere." Jack said with his empty, hollow eyes still locked onto the bringer of death. " I MADE A PROMISE!" With such force only rivaled by one, Jack did what merely no other soul had every done before him..with one swift motion, the young skeleton boy grabbed ahold of the key and held it tightly forcing it backward slowly. "What the hell is he doing?!" Outraged, Chrono pushed harder trying with all his might to overpower the young soul, his empty eyes hardend as they met Jack's hollow dark ones.

"In case you didn't hear me...I'll say it again..."Gripping the key even tighter in his hands, Jack let out a small grunt of pain as he pushed harder..his eyes narrowing while he focused on one thought and one thought only.
"I made a promise, to my mother! She died saving me, and dammit...I don't..deserve to face her ...! She came back to me, and told me as I lied there dying to LIVE! AND DAMMIT I DID! BUT I BROKE MY PROMISE...SO UP YOURS FAT HEAD!"
