I have the paper feel screen cover too - I like the one from pentips brand better than paper like honestly, they both feel so different! Paperlike has a lot more texture and drag to it, lentils feels smoother but still has traction on the pen

I have a normal desktop tab, no screen, and a ipad for drawing too - I'd LOVE to get a surface pro at some point. There's also xp pen who make screen tabs for desktops but recently released a standalone tablet similar to the iPad and surface, except it runs in android - but comes with it's own pen and such too 3nodding
The newer ipads are so pricy, it took me over a year to pay mine off but they're very graceful with giving you that time to pay in increments. My old original I think was around £200 and came with the pen - very good deal. Got it in an Ebay auction. But the newer one is definitely worth it in comparison, a lot more smoother and the memory is better I noticed so can handle more layers and bigger canvas dimensions the older ipad model would lag horribly with.

I promise the programmes are pretty easy to get into once you figure out the basics - plus, any skills you learn in one can generally be carried to another since most art programmes are fairly universal in what they offer wink I collect them as a hobby for years now, always wanted to do a little page where I review each one some day if I ever got time.
Definitely some good free or cheap ones out there in the software side of it, and I used a cheapo secondhand wacom bamboo cth-470 for yeeears until I had enough money to upgrade, I hope you can find a cheap setup if you want to give it a shot!

(It's the opposite for me, I find it so much more expensive now to keep up with buying traditional materials crying )
