About

Hello fellow Gaians,
My name is Alicia G, and I'm a crazy and outgoing kind of girl, it still surprises me that people think I'm shy before they know me. I can be a little sensitive and emotional but I don't believe a woman can be a truly great actress until she's had several passionate affairs and had her heart broken. Despite it all, I'm genuine, I don't lie, cheat, or steal and I show my true colors. I'm not afraid to be myself, nor to be unattractive, I am a great believer in the fact that you must love yourself before someone else can love you, and you must be whole as a person before accepting another into your life.I see the world through rose colored glasses sometimes, but its not all that terrible a fault. La vie en rose.

I own eight parrots and they are my life. I model with them, I'm in shows with them, and I hope to open a rescue and education center later in life. Please feel free to talk to me, I thrive on communication.

Here is a picture of Heather in flight (one of my macaws). I'll probably post quite a few pictures

thank you!c:

I am very proud of him that he's gotten this far. His injured chest in now full of lovely peach feathers and a small scar.
Some of his follicles are damaged, though. We think that his feathers might just stop growing in some areas, but we do see little pin feathers sprouting in places.
And he's molting out his bad feathers and growing new ones. mrgreen

He's got a really big appetite too..@u@
I love watching him eat.

I have another question, if you don't mind..what is your opinion on Cockatoos hanging out with Cockatiels? I know the size difference can be a dangerous thing, but is there anyway I can have my Charlie spend some time with them? My tiels are always friendly with him, but I never let them near him because he has like, superstrength.O___O

Well, he wasn't exactly a rescue, the owner before me was a collector. He collected big birds, then one day decided to sell them. He sold them at this swap meet, in terrible condition. the man had Mollies and all type of parrots in super small rabbit cages,(some were in bigger cages) and my m2 was found shoved in a small cage in the back of a freight truck with a female. They both had large holes on their chest, and were practically bald. There were swarms of flies eating at the little bits of dried blood around the injured area.

My mom and I just happened to be looking to get a larger parrot after months of research, and the little guy caught our eye. He was in the worst condition out of all the other birds, so we bought him and took him in. I go back to that swapmeet at least twice a month to check on the other birds, and they seem to be healthy, just in bad living conditions. I wish I had the time and more money, so I could adopt them all, but that would only encourage men like him and breeders/pet stores..

We took him to the vet during quarantine and the vet said he could have died, and that he was lacking in alot of nutrition, and he might have had pachecos, I think. The blood test results said he was fine, and was just a little ugly and needed more nutrition.

My Charlie originally looked like this:

And this is him when we thought he had more feathers:

And here's a more recent picture of him:

He's such an angel, and I really try my best, along with my family, to take care of him and treat him like one of us.>n<

I have a Moluccan Cockatoo..
He's always wanted to fly, but never has the confidence to.

All he does is grab onto his perch and flap his wings really hard. He sees my cockatiels flying and sometimes gets jealous.
Is there anything I can do to help him?

Your flock looks very happy! They are very happy to have you.
I have a question though.. are toucans legal?.___.

Because I saw some for sale at a local swap meet.

Yes! http://www.gaiaonline.com/guilds/id.247659 It's called "The Feathers on a Bird"
Please do, I'm no good at that. Don't think I have a banner, either
I made it a long time ago, but like I said, didn't know anyone who was interested, that and I haven't worked on it in a looooong time >.<

I don't mean to butt in, but you guys have me all excited. I all ready have a bird guild. I just couldn't find many people to join it. (That and my old computer died so hadn't been able to keep it up for a few monthes) Perhaps it could use a make-over? mrgreen

Sure, I wouldn't mind being part of crew or whatever it is called.
To be honest I've never really gotten involved in guilds much before, so I have no idea how it works. I can't believe it costs money after the initial guild-buying fee to run it...why is that?

If you need gold, just ask me. I have like 100k sitting around- I never buy anything on here, it just sort of piles up.

Psh, you're not crazy. =D

I think it sounds awesome. But I have a couple of concerns-
We probably won't get a whole lot of people. Though we've had a lot of posts in our thread, as far as individual posters not including me or you, it's been like...ten? 15, at the greatest. And even a smaller fraction of people would want to join a guild over birds. Plus, even a smaller fraction of that would be people who are literate and can speak using capital letters and punctuation. I have no problem with having a guild with even just three people or so- but just don't be expect us to become a massive guild or anything.
Don't expect me to be leader. xD I really dislike being the leader on things- love to speak to people and such, but just don't want to be the leader. I'd like it to be like how we did the thread, where you create the guild and do what you want (create graphics, etc), then I'll help write just anything else that needs to be written. And come up with ideas for and/or create the different sections in the forum part.

I think a guild would be really beneficial though. We could post a LOT more articles and information than what we did in the thread, and we'd also have our own little mini-forum to post as much bird stuff as we please.
I actually have a long list of links to the pdfs of avian veterinary books (I find them a lot on Scribd) and on other bird stuff as well.
Plus, we'd be our own little community. That sounds so cool.
