Finishing up my double major in Psychology and Asian Studies :3 Content with life. Has the greatest friends AND boyfriend in the world ♥ Procrastinates too much. Chronically sleep-deprived. Likes: Asian dramas, Asian pop music, medical dramas like House and Grey's Anatomy, reading, manga (trying to read those raws now! @_@), web design, using emotes, farming simulations and pet games, internet and fandom culture (I know my memes!)

Dislikes: randomly mixing Japanese words with English (unless it's for the obvious lulz effect) or typin lyk dis -> I want to take you seriously plz

You labu-labu Japan?

While there are many aspects of Japanese culture and society that I enjoy (and I had an AMAZING time living in Tokyo), I realized that Japan is a fun place to visit but not to live in permanently. There is so much more to Japan than anime/manga, J-pop, and cute things. Some aspects of Japanese culture and society are downright unhealthy or frightening, psychologically and socially. Things such as people getting annoyed when someone commits suicide in front of a train ("Gosh, I'm going to be late! So annoying!"), many girls "dieting" (fasting or skipping meals) to stay thin, women not speaking up when they are getting sexually harassed because they are afraid of the stigma or being judged as "asking for it" by society, etc. Sadly, these are situations that I experienced on a daily basis in Tokyo.

So my takeaway message is to hold in mind that no culture or society is perfect. Each has its own problems and each has its own gems. This is in response to those who declare Japan as being the "best" without actually digging deeper and learning about these issues.

MOAR?

Loves food like woah. Sweet foods and fresh fruit = bliss. Hello Panda snacks and gummy bears are yummy. Drinks like a fish: tea (green, chai, oolong), bubble tea, Thai tea ♥, any iced tea, coconut juice, soybean milk, mango shakes, peach smoothies, peach juice, any fruit juice (especially orange! the pulp kind!) with ice, vanilla frappuccinos, Starbucks’ current frappuccino special(s), chai lattes, pumpkin spice lattes, yummy mixed alcoholic drinks, and of course that good ol’ H2O.
