Johnny the Homicidal Maniac is the best comic ever to have appeared in my hands. My profile is going to be dedicated to JTHM, along with other works by Jhonen.
First, some things about me (because I know you want to know)
I am a 16-year-old. I am a girl. I have a boy avi because it's three years old and all my friends are on it. Frankly, I'm too attached to this avi to make a girl one. Besides, it's fun to cosplay Johnny!
Aaanyway, school sucks, and I adore videogames. Preferably RPGs, puzzle and strategy, but I also like certain first-person-shooters. The only 'fighter' game I like is super smash bros.
I love comics, JTHM in particular, and I like Jhonen Vasquez and all of his works (duh). I also read some manga, but not very much. I like all kinds of music except country and rap. I luuuuuurve movies (I own too many to count), especially Horror, and I watch
some anime =3.
Okay, now that that is done, onto the dedication, Muhahahaha!
Johnny the Homicidal Maniac
JTHM
Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, also called Suicidal Maniac (Hence my Name) is a great comic book. The artist is Jhonen Vasquez and the publisher is Slave Labor Graphics (best name ever). The comic is about a young man named Johnny (Also known as Nny) who, well, lets just say he is a few cards short of a full deck. A nutty.
The emotional artist tortures and kills people whom he thinks does not deserve life; people who make fun of him. He doesn’t /just/ kill them for revenge, however. He kills them, drains their blood, and then paints a wall with it! Completely normal! He has a completely rational reason, really. If he doesn’t paint the wall with blood, then the monster on the other side escapes, and the universe will come to an end! What is this monster? We think it’s a moose.
Anyway, I don’t want to give too much away. Go out and read the comic! It’s very cheap, and the art and story line is amazing. For readers who love comedic violence, and for those who like to think a lot, this book is for you!
JTHM not only has the lovely story about Johnny, but it also includes mini stories that Jhonen writes as “a way to keep sane” as he writes his comics. This includes the Meanwhiles, which are stories that are completely unrelated to JTHM and just sometimes a little crazy, Happy Noodle Boy comics, which are comics drawn by Johnny, Wobbly Headed Bob which is about a depressed little alien type thing who always ends up causing some form of destruction (suicide!), and True Tales of Human Drama, which are over exaggerated stories of things that have ACTUALLY happened. Really.
Let’s move on!
Profiles
(this picture was coloured by myself, by the way, so don't steal it.)
Johnny C.
AKA Nny (pronounced like “knee”)
Age: Early twenties
Height: 5’9
weight: 115 lbs
Likes: Stars, insects, Frooty pops, Cherry FizWiz, brain-freezies, too many movies to name, moon, pop rocks and soda, little chubby babies, Squee, music, kind and intelligent people.
Dislikes: sleep, human needs, people who’ve ‘Gotta have a smoke!”, the word “wacky’, losing his mind, Satan’s Attitude, God’s Attitude, idiots, mean and stupid people.
Other: We know nothing about Nny’s background, even he doesn’t remember. The only thing we know is that he was called “Noodle boy” by his schoolmates as a child because he was so skinny. He, at one time, had a fine, intelligent mind, and once painted wonderful masterpieces of art. It is rumored that he lost his artistic talent and went insane.
Mr. ******** (That’s what my Kiki Kitty is named!)
AKA. Mr. Eff
Age: young
Height: 2’3
Weight: 9 OZ
Likes: Insane violence, fast electronic music, John Wu movies, the sound of heart’s beating, the paint job Nny did on him.
Dislikes: Psycodoughboy, depression, sleeping, nougat, bad moods, caring about something for more than 30 seconds, when popcorn gets burned.
Other: Mr. Eff is a voice inside Johnny’s head, a voice of insanity and murder. He takes the form of large doughboy that Nny had painted long ago as part of a display stand, and is made of Styrofoam. He wants Nny to live and be ‘happy’. He constantly encourages Nny to kill people, so that the insanity would grow so large that he would be able to exist on his own.
Psycodoughboy
AKA D-boy
Age: older than Mr Eff
Height: 2’3
Weight: 9OZ
Likes: Knowing that everything ends eventually, Zhang Yimou movies, when children drop their ice cream and jump off buildings in a fit of despair, suicide.
Dislikes: Mr. Eff, sleeping, when Nny looks hopeful, being conscious, not being able to mess up the ozone layer, when Nny fails at suicide.
Other: D-boy is another voice inside Johnny’s head, a voice of despair and doom. He takes the form of a large doughboy that Nny had painted long ago as part of a display stand, and is made of Styrofoam. He and D-boy constantly fight over whether Nny should kill himself or not. He encourages Nny to kills himself.
Nailbunny
AKA Floating bunny head
Age: 3
Height: 6 inches (with body)
Weight: 6OZ (with nail)
Likes: Floating around, Johnny, nature shows, scenes in Disney movies where people die
Dislikes: When Johnny is upset/an insane lunatic, the doughboys, hammers, when spiders nest inside of him, screams of the innocent.
Other: Johnny bought the fluffy bunny from a pet store three years ago. He brought him home, fed him once, then took a hammer and nailed the bunny to the wall. Ouch. Nailbunny then became another voice in Nny’s head. Nailbunny is the only voice of reason (he is the closest Johnny can come to having a conscience). He tries to help Nny and make him remember the good ol sane days, and he constantly conflicts with the doughboys over the right thing to do.
Todd Casil
AKA Squee
Age: younger than 8
Height: Real short
Weight: Less than a cheeseburger
Likes: the discovery channel, his bear Shmee, writing stories, when daddy doesn’t yell, when mommy remembers his name, when insane neighbor man doesn’t tell him bedtime stories, when he doesn’t have a nightmare.
Dislike: when Shmee tells him to burn things, Aliens abducting him, bed babies, dust mites, the sick sounds coming from next door, the kids at school, the threat of Armageddon, sponges, nightmares, things that scare him.
Other: Nny refers to him as “Squee”, because that’s the sound the boy makes when he’s terrified. Squee is Nny’s poor next-door neighbor, and possibly Nny’s only friend. Johnny protects Squee and treats him as well as a homicidal maniac can, although he frightens the child to no end (not on purpose, really). Squee has horrible parents. One wishes he was never born, and the other is always high on some sort of drug. They both hate him.
Squee becomes so famous that he earns his own comic book series, "Squee!", which I will talk about later.
Devi D
AKA The one that got away
Age: Early twenties
height: 5’9
Weight: 120 lbs
Likes: movies, stars, ghost stories, painting, driving with stereo on loud, reading, meeting guys who aren’t insane
Dislikes: not being a lesbian, shitty dates (quite literally), people who think they know anything about religion, being attacked by crazy dates.
Other: Devi was originally just going to be in a Meanwhile that Jhonen wrote, but he liked the idea of a girl having two bad dates in a row, so he put her in the actual story. After going out on a date with a guy who s**t his pants in the Meanwhile, Devi goes out with Johnny. It all goes well, except for when Johnny decides to kill her. If he kills her, see, the beauty of the relationship will never end, like all others do. Devi soon finds out she isn’t the only one, and as Nny lunges at her… she beats the s**t out of him. Devi is the only person, ever, to have gotten away from Johnny.
Devi is so cool that she earns her own comic book, "I Feel sick", which I will talk about later.
