About

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Long ago, when the Kingdom of Tarnesia was first founded, a King and his son were the two leading members of the Tarnesian Royal Family. Along with their Royal Mage, Maid, and Guard Company, the Kingdom was ruled justly and fairly.
This did not last forever though, as a great famine passed over the Kingdom. The King became desperate, and began to horde more and more food and supplies from the people in his castle. His son would frequently ask why his father was doing this, and his father would always respond with,
"It is for the greater good of the Kingdom, my son."
And so his son didn't question this judgement, as his father had lead him his entire life. As the boy grew older and soon became the head of the Royal Guard Company, he began to see the sprawling effect of the famine on his kingdom. So once again he asks his father why nothing is being done for the people and the castle is being further reinforced. His response, as it had always been, was,
"It is for the greater good of the Kingdom, my son."
As he had heard this excuse for all of his life, the king's son decided he would take the throne from his father.
With the Royal Guard Company behind the Prince, and the Royal Mage and Maid behind the King, a battle raged for weeks on end inside, and eventually spilling outside of the castle walls. Citizens fled as the countryside was bathed in blood, flames, arrows and bodies. Once the battle had finished, the once peaceful Mage, the loyal Maid, the stalwart King, and the myriad of Royal Tarnesian Guards had all perished on the glassed wasteland.
The Prince, mortally wounded, recovered over the next few years living on the steppes of the nearby Tarnesian Mountain Range. In the final years of his life, the Prince stumbled upon an old alchemist within a cave in the side of a mountain far away from the old kingdom. Seeing the Prince on his last grips of life the alchemist offered him a choice. The alchemist would restore his youth and even extend it beyond dozens of lifetimes, however the Prince would have to pay a terrible price.
Only a legend spoken among Tarnesian Citizens, this story is retold as a tale of how the Kingdom of Tarnesia survived the massive famine ages ago. It isn't known what happened to the Prince after his deal with the Alchemist, however it is a bit strange that the current King has never left the castle for a decree, and has never shown his face to anyone who has lived to tell about it...
