Nerdanel Istarnie
Nerdanel was the daughter of the great smith Mahtan, who was of the Noldor and favoured by the Vala Aulë. She and Fëanor married in their early youth, and she bore him seven sons: Maedhros, Maglor, Celegorm, Caranthir, Curufin, Amrod and Amras. During their time together, Nerdanel was seen as much more patient than her husband, and sought to understand the minds of others rather than master them. She was one of the very few who could restrain Fëanor when the fires in his heart grew too hot, and the only one from whom he sought help in time of need. Called 'Istarnie' (the Wise) by her peers, Nerdanel did not follow her husband into Middle-Earth, and still lives in Aman.
