Hers are fantasy with a bit of science fiction/space opera/detective/spy elements thrown in. Miles Vorkosigan is the main character. His father is from a militaristic planet where 'muties' (mutants) are despised, and his mother was from an egalitarian society. She was gassed during pregnancy, so Miles has brittle bones, short stature, etc. and is widely regarded as a 'mutie' who is accepted only due to his family connections. Almost no one knows he is not a diplomat-by-virtueof-birth but is actually a highly trained spy who previously led his own army. You get the general idea. The novels cover much of his history, and there is room for more of them.
