That's because it's not stellar, and I'm really only a harsh critic due to my connection to the source material and the great potential I see in a show like this -- especially since the plot is fairly decent. But I do believe it's worth the watch. It kept me entertained. I binged through it without missing a beat. I literally did not pee for like 6 hours.

I recommend you watch it, honestly -- especially since you have no connection to the source material. Be forewarned, though -- the plot is its strongest element, for this 6 episode series falls under several flaws:

Black character tokenism.
Fat character tokenism.
Lack of proper character development and depth for a whole 3 characters.
Stereotyping a character and fitting her into a box while also trying to make her far deeper than she is by utilizing trauma and abusive parent trope.
A really weird love triangle that really wasn't one, sort of?
Simplifying the issues fat people go through and making it seem like an after-thought, while also having the fat character bring attention to her issues but then making her hand-wave it all.
Simplifying the black main character into three whole personality traits.
Wiping out the original diversity of the cast as a whole.
Casting only a handful of black people in the entire series (I could LITERALLY count the amount of black people in the show on ONE hand, and only TWO of those black people are 'main' characters).

... But despite all those glaring issues beyond the superficial things people are complaining about, I... Still recommend it. If only because I want a second season due to the plot, and I genuinely feel they can do better if they LISTEN lmao.

Of course, that is if you want a break from K-Dramas. I actually ENJOYED the show, and I was a fan of the source material (and they absolutely brutalized the source material in this).

I'm also finally watching the Winx live action. So far it's fine, as its own thing; kind of preachy.

Speaking of what's coming to Netflix...

That cursed live-action adaptation of Winx Club is coming this Friday. I am unironically excited for it, if only because I'm seeing it as its own thing at this point. Not sure if you've heard of Winx Club or ever watched it, but yeah. It's sort of a hot button topic right now. Netflix, yet again, ruins an animated show with a reboot. Lmao.

It's probably not healthy for me at this point, though. Sometimes I can't seem to put a certain drama down, even though I've grown annoyed with it or don't like it anymore. I find myself longing. It's weird.
