Why?
So today was my first day at Burger King. I get to made hamburgers, woohoo! It's in fact somewhat fun to do, but can be hectic at times. I'm just glad I got a job for the weekend. What's even better is that I get a 60% off on everything I get at BK and associated stores in the Netherlands.

Anyway, time to get too my point of the day. While I was waiting, I went to a nearby toilet (the typical train station one, you know it, I was half an hour early because of the busses). What surprised me was how clean the toilets were, unlike what you normally see. Not only were they clean, they were also spacious and very modern. The tap contained a motion-sensor that made the water flow when I held my hands under it and stopped the flow when I removed my hands.

What I wonder about is: what is the use of this technology? Why do we need motion-sensor taps? I mean, I know they're cool and fun and all, but mankind is heading for destruction with fuels running out, greenhouse effect and stuff. Why doesn't the world invest time and money into saving mankind itself, instead of worrying about motion-sensor taps and other kinds of unnecessary technologies?

I'm worried about my own future and those of others, since we'll be running out of oil in 30 years. Without oil, no plastic; this will be one of the major steps in the extinction of mankind. I've heard all the comments like 'in 30 years we'll have found other resources and mines', but how long will they last?

Mankind has been in an upward spiral for the last few centuries, but we've gotten too used to it and soon it will all fall apart and there's nothing I can do...
