Gender:
Female

Day of birth:
Unknown, but falling in line with human tradition, she celebrates August the 11th as her birthing day.

Occupation:
Student and Singer

Biography:
Syfka was once a great being, no less than an essence of what it was to be. She was the embodiment of light, and the god-like entity that controlled it. For eons she protected the Earth, and as humans arose from the darkness, blinking weakly in the light, they as well fell under her wing. Her likeness was erected in temples across vast empires and minute tribal gatherings alike. She was their guardian against all things of threat, of hatred. The other beings of power were agitated and jealous of the attention given to their counterpart of light by the humans. So, in the darkness of the Emptyness, a powerful being of shadow planted the seeds of doubt and evil. Soon, the human race was furrowed with a natural lust for blood and dissent, and they rose up against one another. Syfka the omni-present was torn and unaware of her supposed friends treachery. How could she take the battlefield with her human friends, only to bring her blade down upon others? So, she walked the Earth in a human-like form, spreading her emotional turmoil; making it clear that she was not fond of the path her charges were taking.

It was then, when she was weak and vulnerable, that the being of the Emptyness showed himself, in a form similar to hers. With him, marched an army of men, ready to fall for their newfound lord. A battle ensued. There was little Syfka could do. She did her best to incapacitate, rather than kill, but it was in vain. As the sun dipped below the horizon, earth and sky alike were washed in red. She and the Shadow stood alone, bathed in crimson. He had not fought, not lifted a finger to protect his vassals. Syfka's power, on the other hand, was all but spent. She fell to her knees. The Fates sang to her. Defeat was near; in her heart, she knew it to be true, but in her eyes, a spark of rage and defiance burst into flame. The Shadow approached, touching her forehead almost lovingly with his fingertips.

"You have fallen, Light, as a flame is snuffed. In your place, I, Shadow, will fall." Syfka spat blood at him. He didn't seem to notice. "I will not end your suffering; no. I want you to watch your people cling to my touch; my darkness." A wicked grin crossed his features. "You are to be bound in human form; immortal and powerless." Syfka closed her eyes, a tear streaking her cheek. She would not fail her people entirely, as the Shadow prophesized.

"Then you, dear Shadow," she said with renewed hope, "are to disappear. No form shall you ever take again, aside from what is natural in the human heart." She let her sword fall from her grasp and wrapped her cold fingers around his wrist. "You will be bound to my fate as I am to yours. As Light, it will be." The Shadow hissed, but what was done, was done. He dissipated, barely uttering the sealing words, "As Shadow, it will be."

And so it was. Syfka took a human form and name, slipping into the shadows herself, where humans would never discover the truth. Still, she watched over them, did her best to influence their path, and reappeared in their histories time and time again, changing the fate of many a battle. Even so, she saw clearly where Man was going, and found she had little hope left. She looked in herself, shocked to find a bit of Shadow there, darkening her heart. With this revelation, she disappeared, slumbering in some deep abyss, unwilling to face fate with her doomed people.

Now, she wakes, enters the light once more. Unaccustomed to the ways of this new world, she does her best to fall into a human life, with only her wits and limited supernatural powers to protect her. What will become of this girl?

Likes:
Singing, reading, and studying the years she has missed.

Dislikes:
Arrogance, "evil", and sour things.

Fear:
That one day she will wake to find that the bit of Shadow in her has grown, and that she will no longer be able to maintain the code she already struggles to uphold.
