Princess Laverna sat at her window sewing and crying. Being the 7th daughter of King Thorus was hard enough. She was betrothed to a prince she never knew. A dark shadow crept behind her and called on her name. Laverna turned and saw the face of death. Of the grim reaper. Laverna smiled at her lover. Those who touch death shall die but as if destiny, she held his skull of a face and kissed his forehead. "what is wrong?" the grim reaper asked as he wiped the tear off Laverna's cheek. Immediately his skull face transformed into that of a handsome young priest's. Laverna's face contorted and she managed to smile. "i am pregnant my love. But my father thinks it is the prince's child." The grim reaper layed his hand onto his love's stomach. " i feel a bump." he smiled. Laverna heard a thud and in came a prince. He had the face of a child and the toughness of a bull. "Laverna, my future queen." he beamed. Laverna smiled a wicked smile and stroked the cheek of the prince. The grim reaper smiled to her surprise. " Laverna my dear queen of Tartarus, again you have laid with me. our 7th and most destined daughter is moving in you womb. you have the gift of death. My love, your hands are just as poisonous as mine. This prince will die. for in womb is the leygate between life and death. your touch has killed the prince." the grim reaper kissed his lover passionately and disappeared in a shroud that gave the pungent smell of corpses. Laverna looked in shock and quickly removed her hand. But it was too late. The princes face began to burn and disappear. "you evil witch.." was the prince's last words. Laverna touched her stomach and realized what power she had. in all her life she was even more appreciative that she laid with the most feared spirit of the dark. "i am a queen at last." she smiled and rubbed her growing stomach. "you are already my favorite." she laughed and called on the furies to take her to Tartarus so she may wallow with the wives of other death gods and share their fortunes.
