I will type a few of my explorations here.
10-01 Road Trip (WITH PICS LINKED!!)
Sunday I went on a road trip with one of my coworkers. a several hour-long drive to Sikeston, Missouri. We wanted to eat at the Lambert's Cafe, Home of the Throwed Rolls. After several hours we finally arrived!! It was magical! Amazing! I thought the roll throwing was some joke but no. They LITERALLY throw rolls straight from the kitchen! I'm not kidding! Just stand up from your seat and they'll toss rolls in your direction until you catch one. I'm awful at throwing and catching so normally have to be the buzzkill when people toss things my way but for this moment I was like, "Eh, what the heck. A waste to drive all the way out here to not at least participate in the catching of rolls." I surpassed my expectations! I CAUGHT a roll! If you knew me personally it's like a well known thing that you cannot toss anything at me as I WILL miss. But this moment was magical! I caught it!! Not only was it fun to catch the roll, but these rolls were obviously made fresh from scratch. This was not canned dough or anything. They made this thing. it was absolutely delicious! I got the chicken and dumplings, with the sides, and ate some of the pass-arounds. Staff come by on occasion with massive bowls filled with goodies like fried okra, beans, etc. Those seem to be free. It's a bit pricey but really, I'd take a ride out there and spend that to eat there again. I'd love to return again someday! I could go on but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.

We all then went on to visit the Kentucky Dam. Not much to report there but you know I still thought it was lovely to get to see. I got to see a large turbine for display and they had a fishing area. I saw lots of fish carcasses though on the rocks.

On our way back towards our next destination (Patti's Settlement) we saw someone had converted their entire yard into a drive-through for Halloween! It was awesome! We also went through what seemed almost like a ghost town. A lot of damaged and abandoned buildings. It was creepy yet cool! I would like to do a thorough exploration of Cairo, Illinois. It seemed so desolate. I have a couple of images from this town included.

Then the last stop we went to was Patti's Settlement. A touristy area with a restaurant, gift shops, etc. The staff dress in dresses reminiscent of the era (1880s) and have lots of activities! They have a baby gift shop, wine/whiskey shop, the Pink Tractor, a cool little gem sifting thing where kids can sift and pan through rocks to find gems, etc. There was quite a lot going on! They have some sailboats docked there as well. The day was quickly drawing to a close as I caught an absolutely beautiful Sunset at the end of our day.
