Paper Cutout Chapter 2: A Fruits Basket Fanfiction
Chapter 2: I hate this school just about as much as I hate you!

It was six in the morning and you had been woken up in a way you wished would never happened again... Ryo decided he would wake you up really early so you would have time to prepare for school, little did he know... You hated mornings just as much as you hated your new school. Sure it was nice... The teachers were wonderful, the students alright, but that boy Yuki, he scared you.

It had been a day since you bumped into him. Sure you could've started school the next day, but after the conversation you had about Yuki with you Uncle Kenji and the small fight you had with Eien, you were beat and didn't feel like going to school. So, you skipped... Or in your words... Just hadn't started yet.

"Amy, you're going to be late if you don't get up." came a voice from the doorway of your room and you turned your head to the side only to see Daisuke standing there, wearing the boy's school uniform. "You look ridiculous, you know that?" you asked as he laughed. "Well, I can't say much about your... Outfit." Daisuke replied, giving a small pause as he motioned to your messed up white hair, white tank and blue starry pajama bottoms. "I think I look damn good." you said with a grin as he smiled.

Sitting up, you rubbed your eyes and watched as Daisuke stepped into your room, walking and walking. Your eyes followed him as he passed your dresser, your suitcase, the bathroom door and then finally he came to a stop at the curtains. "Now it's time for you to get up. Ryo made breakfast you know." Daisuke said before ripping open the curtains, causing bright rays of sunlight to strike your face... And what was on your face? Your eyes!

As if on instinct, you quickly closed your eyes and threw yourself under the blankets. "Leave me alone..." you moaned like a little kid as you heard his footsteps once again. "If you miss breakfast... Ryo will be rather disappointed and I don't think you want to have to explain to him why you couldn't get up to eat... He can be very... talkative Amelia." Daisuke said as you threw the covers from your head and looked at him as he looked back down at you. "Fine." you mumbled while standing up and heading to the bathroom.

There was silence after that and you assumed Daisuke had left to go eat.

It didn't take you long to take a shower, put up your hair.. and convince yourself to wear the uniform that had been laid out on your bed for you. Now heading down the stairs, the clock hanging on the living room wall read 7:25. Voices seemed to fill the hallway as you headed down to the kitchen. "Do you think she'll like it? Maybe I should've made pancakes... Or even waffles. I bet she likes waffles!" It was Ryo's voice and by the sound of it, he was giving everyone a hard time. "Oh just shut up! If she's hungry, she'll eat!" another voice yelled as you smirked. "That's Eien." you thought to yourself as more followed. "No need to shout... I'm sure our neighbors can wake up just fine." Daisuke's voice flew to your ear as your Uncle Kenji's followed. "Now... No need to start a fight Daisuke."

Sure it was true that you had neighbors, very odd and strange neighbors but neighbors none the less. Of course... Eien would have to yell really loud to wake them up. After all, they were a nice long walk from your Uncle's house. It was almost hard to believe you even had neighbors!

You stepped inside the dinning room and by the looks of it, Daisuke and Eien looked as if they would tear each other's throats out as Ryo stood at the corner of the table with a spatula in his hand. Uncle Kenji just sat at the head of the table, flipping to another page in the newspaper as if he hadn't a care in the world. "Good morning." you said, making your way over to the chair where a plate full of eggs, bacon and toast waited for you.

It was then everyone fell silent. Even Ryo which was surprisingly odd, but the silence didn't last long as laughter filled the large room. Turning your attention towards Eien, you couldn't help but want to kill him as he and your Uncle Kenji laughed and laughed. "L-look at that outfit! She looks like an idiot!" Eien yelled out while he continued laughing as if you weren't standing there.

You just stood there behind the chair, your hands becoming fists as your face began to turn red from embarrassment and anger. "Oh shut the he-" but you were interrupted from your screaming by Ryo. "You look absolutely adorable!" he screamed as your face turned back to it's normal color. "Yes, I agree. Absolutely radiant." Daisuke followed as you took in a deep breath and sat down, ignoring the loud laughter that Eien and Kenji refused to let die.

Ryo looked at you with a huge smile on his face as you faintly smiled back before looking down at your plate where your food laid, waiting for you to pick up your fork and eat it. "Wow, this looks... wonderful." you said, picking up a piece of toast and taking a bite of it. Everything smelled wonderful and looked the same to match. You spent so much time running from Ryo, you hadn't even noticed he could cook so well. Breakfast was just as you expected. Eien wouldn't shut his mouth and due to that, Daisuke would continuously insult him. Kenji seemed oblivious to his surroundings, even when the breakfast Ryo made began to fly through the air and Ryo, well... he was just too preoccupied with gawking at you.

The grandfather clock in the hallway that lead to the living room chimed, breaking up the yelling and staring and just the whole awkwardness at the table. It was 7:45 and school started soon. Realizing this, Ryo, Daisuke and Eien jumped up and headed for the door as you sat there, not really wanting to go to that school. "Come on Amy, we'll be late!" Ryo yelled as he took your hand and literally pulled you from your seat and dragged you down the hallway and out the front door.

You arrived at school just ten minutes late and although you didn't get in trouble, due to Daisuke explaining everything, you still felt oddly strange in this school. It was much different from the one in California and you just didn't want to run into him again. "o0o0o look! You and Eien are in the same class!" Ryo yelled out in the empty hallway as you stood there with a frown on your face, wondering how Eien could have possibly scored in a range the same as your own. Both you and Eien exchanged hate filled glances at each other when Ryo yelled out you had the same class but then snatched your schedule back after he did. "I'll just see whoever, whenever... Ok?" you said before walking down the hallway and heading to the classroom marked 1-D. Eien followed behind, his hands deep inside his pockets as you went through the doorway only to see the teacher wasn't even in there. Stopping, you looked around the class to see everyone playing cards and looking a little harder, you noticed that boy again. "Great." you mumbled but soon, you were pushed and then there was yelling. "God Amy! Don't you know how to fricken' walk!" Came Eien's voice as everyone looked up at you and Eien. "Well if you would learn to open your damn eyes, maybe you'd noticed I stopped?" you said as you rolled your eyes and crossed your arms. "Yeah! What's the deal anyway? Too chicken to go any further?" Eien replied as your face went red. "Excuse me, but is there a problem here?" came a quiet, gentle voice as you turned to see none other then Yuki standing there. "No." both you and Eien said, looking in the opposite directions.

Yuki just stood there clueless as can be as you and Eien walked away from each other and headed for an empty desk. You sat in the back corner while he took the opposite end. You just sat there, looking out the window as you began to regret ever coming to this place. That's when a girl with black braided hair began to talk. "You have wonderful electric waves." she said. Looking at her, you blinked a few times then turned to see another girl with blonde hair. "Oh Hana, don't scare the new girl." she said as you just continued to stare. "Hello there!" then came another voice, this time, rather cheerful sounding. Looking in that direction, you noticed a girl with long brown hair. "Hi." you replied, you voice rather dull for such a moment. "I'm Tohru Honda. It's very nice to meet you." the same girl said as she stuck out her hand which you only glanced at before looking back up at her and shaking it. "Amelia Amagawa." you replied as Tohru smiled. "This here is my friend Hana." Tohru said, gesturing to the girl with black hair, "And this is Uo." she finished, moving her hand towards the blonde haired girl. "Hello." they both said as you just smiled.

"So, I hear you're from America. How's it over there?" Uo asked as she sat in the desk in front of you. "It's great." you replied as you looked at Tohru who had her attention turned towards a kid with orange hair. "Aww, Kyo Kyo lost again!" a few boys said to him as he yelled back. "Who's that?" you asked, realizing how similar he and Eien were. "Huh? Oh carrot top." Uo said, turning to look at the boy. "That's Kyo Sohma, Prince Yuki's cousin." she said as you nodded, but immediately shot up. "Wait! Prince Yuki?" You said as all three of them looked at you. "Yeah... What's wrong?" Tohru asked as you shook your head and began to explain.

"My cousin Daisuke..." was all you had to say and that's when Uo jumped out of her seat. "No way! You're cousin is the Prince of thethird years?" ((Meaning the Jr's. Yes, that's right! Daisuke's a year above you and I'm starting this while their in theirSophmore year.)) "Uhh... I guess so." you said, not yet realizing what the huge deal of it was. "Daisuke... I've seen him before. He has... Odd electric waves." Hana said, making you look back at her. "What's with that anyway?" you asked as Tohru and Uo looked at you oddly. "She's a physic." a boy answered as you turned to see one of the boys who was playing cards with everyone. "Ok.." you replied, looking at Hana strangely while ignoring the boy who only gawked at you. "So, does this class have a teacher or do we sit around all day?" you asked as Tohru began to explain. "The teacher was called away because he had a phone call so I don't know when he'll be back." she told you as you nodded and sat back down. "Knew it was gonna be a long day." you thought to yourself just as an older man walked into the classroom. "Hello class, let's settle down and begin." Everyone took a seat and class went on like it normally did.

Finally, after eight long hours, all your classes were over.

Heading towards your locker, you noticed a few boys smiling at you and one of them waving while a few others winked. You just flashed a smile before slipping around a corner and making your way to your locker. "I'll see you back at the house. I have a meeting to attend to Miss Honda." came a voice as you turned your head to look behind you, but as if fate wanted you to smash into things, you bumped into the locker's side and began to fall, but you never reached the floor. Looking up, you noticed the boy Uo had explained to be Kyo Sohma, holding you and turning the corner came Yuki. Yuki's eyes were wide as he looked at you and Kyo. Kyo... Well he was just in pure shock and what seemed like rage?

Jumping out of Kyo's arms, you quickly walked away from him, your face red and your eyes wide. "Why didn't I change!?!" you mumbled in your thoughts as you passed Yuki who only seemed to stare. "That's twice!" you almost yelled once you reached your locker which was just a row over. "Miss Amagawa?" came a voice you only knew so well. "Yes Yuki?" you said almost in a squeaky voice. Turning to look at him, you noticed his mouth was open like he was going to say something but his gaze wasn't on you. "Ah, hello Yuki Sohma." Daisuke said as he stopped at the edge of the lockers to look at you and Yuki. Turning, you looked over at Daisuke. "Oh Daisuke. What are you doing here? Well not here, here but right here." you said, pointing to the floor. Daisuke however, just raised a brow in confusion. "My locker is next to yours." he replied as your cheeks went red. "Oh." was all you said as he shook his head.

"Hello Daisuke." Yuki said as you turned to look back at him. "So I guess you both know each other. Well of course you do. How silly of me to think you didn't." you said, rambling on like a complete idiot. "Oh, but anyway. You wanted to speak with me, right?" you asked as he shook his head. "No, I'm sorry Miss Amagawa. Please excuse me." he replied with a bow before walking away and disappearing around the corner. "You know, you should stay away from him, Amy. I've heard odd things about that kid." Daisuke said as he walked over to you and opened his locker up only to switch his school shoes with the ones he came here with.

You looked at him confused as he kneeled down to tie his shoe laces. "He seems alright Daisuke, but one thing just bugs me." you said as you reached up and began to open your locker. "And what's tha-" but Daisuke was interrupted by small wrapped boxes falling from your opened locker. Stepping back, you looked at the gifts and then at Daisuke who only looked at you and the gifts oddly. "Well, it seems someone is popular around here." Daisuke said with a grin as you covered your face with your hands. "Why me?" you said, your words muffled by your hands. "Oh come now. I'm sure you had boys falling for you all the time back home." Daisuke replied as you dropped your hands to your side and looked at him. "What? Are you THAT dense?" you said as he shook his head, stood up and grabbed your shoes. "Come on. I'm sure you have homework to do." he said as he handed your shoes to you.

The walk home just about killed you, and Eien's constant bickering just only made everything worse. You, Ryo, Eien and Daisuke were just now turning another corner down the sidewalk. "I don't know why you have to be such an idiot Amy! It's not like-" but Eien was interrupted by Ryo. "Oh come on Eien! It's not like she's been here before!" Ryo yelled as you looked down at your feet. It was true. Your first day at that school went horribly wrong. In just about every subject that dealt with pairing, you had been stuck with Eien because, as the teacher explained, ‘you’re family.’ Of course, that ended up in a complete failure due to the fact the two of you fought every spare moment over little things which caused a disruption in the classroom. Besides the constant stares from Hana who completely freaked you out, things only got worse when you had been forced to go with Yuki to drop off some papers at the office and then, as though that hadn’t been awkward enough, was paired up with him to work on a foreign language project, which he had invited you to work on tomorrow at his house.

Your thoughts however, were interrupted by Daisuke nudging your side. Looking up at him, he just smiled as you threw a quick smile back at him. You and everyone else turned another corner only to see your classmates Yuki and Kyo standing face to face out in the middle of the street. "So rat boy! You wanna start something!" Kyo yelled, his finger pointed straight at Yuki as he stood there, not even phased by him. "Oh please, you're just a hopeless cat." Yuki replied in a rather bored voice. You stopped walking and just watched as Kyo jumped into a fighting stance. Yuki and Kyo both were oblivious to everyone who had stopped and began watching them. "I'll beat you today you dumb rat!" Kyo yelled as you blinked a few times. "Rat? Why is Kyo calling Yuki a rat?" you began to wonder as Kyo ran at Yuki, his hands balled up into fists. "No! Wait!" you shouted as you ran and threw yourself towards Kyo. Shocked by the sudden outburst, Kyo stopped dead in his tracks and turned around just in time to see you flying through the air towards him, your hands stretched out wide.

Before he could even get out of your way you collided with him, knocking him over on the street, your arms wrapped around his waste. Yuki, Daisuke, Ryo and Eien stood there, the color of their faces just draining while everyone else stood there laughing. You hadn't changed and sitting up you looked at Kyo who looked pissed and shocked all at the same time. "You stupid girl!" Kyo then yelled out as Daisuke and Ryo rushed to your side. "Shut your mouth kid before I shut it for you." Eien said as he took his sweet old time getting to you. Yuki though, just looked at you with a pale face.

You hadn't said a word as Daisuke and Ryo helped you up off the ground and with nothing else but shock going through everyone's minds, you left with Kyo and Yuki following close behind. It seemed the silence only grew as everyone walked down the path and as the fork in the road became visible.

You were coming towards it, closer and closer by each second, but you just stopped suddenly. Daisuke and Ryo, who were walking beside you, stopped and turned to look back at you. Eien, who had been following a bit behind you was now standing beside you as you turned and looked at Yuki and Kyo who were both confused by your sudden action.

"What are you?" you asked as both Kyo and Yuki looked to get a far off look in their eyes. "Nothing, let's just go." Kyo said as he continued walking, pushing you aside as Yuki followed. Eien looked pissed off and Ryo stood there, just staring at your back as your gaze fell to the ground. Daisuke only stood there silently before turning and continuing his way home. "Why those bastards!" Eien yelled, shaking his fists wildly as Ryo opened his mouth to speak but you turned around and followed Daisuke who was now ahead of everyone. "W- What!" Eien yelled, just as shocked as he was moments ago. "You're just going to let that idiot do that to you! Come on Amy! I thought you were better then that!" he yelled as you completely ignored him and continued walking.

"Come on Eien, let it go." Ryo said, now with a serious look on his face. "Let it go? LET IT GO! That idiot just can't do that to her and get nothing for it! What about all the times I-!!" But Eien was cut off again as Ryo turned and began his way home, leaving a frustrated Eien behind with a hot red face. "Hey! Wait up!"

____________________

Well, that's my second chapter. For those of you who realized that I created the classroom to reflect an American schedule and not the classic Japanese one, you might be confused as to why I didn't follow down that path.
At the time I wrote this, I did not know that in Japan, students stay in the same classrooms and it's the teachers that come in and change for each subject. Well, I'm a bit smarter now, it's just that I haven't bothered to update the story line because there would just be too many places that would need to be edited later on, and I'll admit it... I'm lazy.

Please make sure to Comment!!! Can't wait til I post the next chapter? You can read all of the current Paper Cutout Chapters here.
