Of Trips and Aquaria
Right before I left France to come back here in the US--and despite all of my prayers--somebody asked me The Question. You know, the one you *really* don't want to hear after spending two weeks stuffing your face and trying to nap your newly acquired fat away:

"So, ya ready for another semester of college?"

Well, my answer's concise and clear--for once.

"Hell. No."

Really, what do people expect? I just can't start enjoying my college life now. I mean if I do, what will I have left to complain about? And how will I waste my time at work ten years from now if I can't spend hours ranting and raving about how I regret not having had fun in college? Now, that'd be a real problem, I tell you.

Anyway. Moving on.

I spent 2 days in Boston on my trip back to college. It was nice, a bit cold though, so the visit of Harvard went a bit like this:
"Wow, dude, it's Harvard, the one place I'll never get admitted in! 'kay now that's done, let's go back to the hotel before my last braincells freeze off."

After duly taking note of the abyssal state of my brains which the cold only made worse--if such a thing is possible--there was the part that every proper tourist goes through: after hours of enthusiastic planning of all the places one wants to see, then comes the strategic withdrawal when one faces the wrath of Nature who, everyone knows, is a b****. Who in their right mind would spend 2 hours in the subway and then walk around Quincy Market when it’s 0°F(-18°C), really.

So what does one do in Boston when outside or somewhere too far from the subway is out of the question? Personally, I went to see the Aquarium. One interesting fact that I got to confirm is, fish don't give a damn about their names--hence my favorite expression: "I don't give a flying fish"--and therefore, there's absolutely no need to try and remember all the complicated stuff written next to them. I mean, really, why come up with unpronounceable names when calling them all "Sushi" works just as well?

For example, there was "Big Sushi", "Ugly Sushi", "Yellow-and-Purple Sushi", "Psycho Sushi", "Striped Sushi", "Pointy-toothed Sushi"...

You can even vary with "Sashimi" it works too.

The only downside to that device is, when you finish the visit of the Aquarium, you’re hungry as hell.

Oh, well. Now I get to brag about how I escaped a live shark. There’s no need to mention the glass pane which happened to be there and, well, separate us. Hey, I’m the one telling the story. Besides, who cares about details anyway.
