Born in Santa Monica to a single mother of a wealthy family. His first taste of the military life was when he was shipped of to Virginia Military Academy after he graduated high school. Three years later he graduated with a degree in warfare logistics and advanced battle tactics. He was recruited by Black Cobra the day he graduated to be trained as a pilot. Two years after he was recruited by the group he attained the rank of Colonel and entered into the Black Operations division after an emotional breakdown when he learned his mother had died in an automobile accident. During this time he was considered for promotion to Brigadier General and lead commander of all the Black Ops teams. After the apparent murder of Colton Hawkins a fellow Colonel and his best friend by the commanding General on orders by the leader of all Black Cobra, Sam went on a killing rampage that destroyed the base and killed close to 80% of all forces. Sam then enlisted in the Novus Air Force as a pilot and transferred to the Naval forces and attained rank of Commanding Admiral and later was promoted to Executive Officer of the Novus Military.
