Some Posts: Pain...
Etherin's head was throbbing as he slowly opened his eyes....
Above him was a bright light...which he quickly shielded his face from with his hand. Gently, he turned his head, to get a better idea of his surroundings. White walls...this uncomfortable bed upon which he had been lying...a small bedside table...and two chairs, one in both corners at the other side of the room.
The room itself wasn't terribly large...
Etherin felt shock run up his legs as his calloused feet touched cold floors...where had he been taken? He closed his eyes and tried to remember just what had happened to him...
...An ambush...he and three of his finest men had been ambushed...
By who...?
Warriors of the water nation. They had bested him in combat?! HA! Not a chance at that...Etherin simply made one small little slip...one little mistake. No, water nation warriors couldn't have possibly beaten him in combat...that was blasphemy!
The sound of the door to what appeared to be his room caused him to turn his head towards the other side of the room and open his eyes...but only slightly.
"Oh good..." came a soft voice, "I was hoping you'd be awake..."
Despite his impaired vision, Etherin was sure he could take the man down. Oh...but he heard footsteps...multiple footsteps...not alone. Still...these were people of the water nation...he could kill them all even if he couldn't see them at all!
"...Who are you...and what do you want...?" Etherin asked, already knowing who they were and pretty sure of what they wanted.
"We are warriors of Incarguna," that same voice replied, "a city of the water nation. We are here because we wish to talk with you valiant warrior."
Etherin didn't really want to talk to them. After all, they were members of the water nation, and on top of that, trying to speak highly of him even though he knew they held a disgust for him and his people.
"...I don't care about your cities...and...what's this about talking?"
He opened his eyes a little more, face twisting into a scowl, "Why would I want to talk with you?"
"Well..." the speaker was the first one...green hair...blue skin, "if you want to get out of here and return to your home, we would suggest cooperating with us. We do not come here to act forcefully, but we will use that force if necessary."
"Spare me..." the warrior muttered, "as if your petty water nation weapons and training could stop me."
"You may use all of the vilifying comments you wish, sir, but we will not do so. We are here to talk with you in a civilized manner. Now, are you going to cooperate?"
"Civilized...HA! There is a war going on...there's no such thing as two soldiers of warring nations talking with each other in a 'civilized' manner."
"Are you going to cooperate?"
"Water nation maggots..."
"Very well then. Perhaps we shall return when you appear to be more cooperative. Good day to you sir."
Etherin stood, clenching his hands into fists, and watched as they filed out of the room. Before the last one made exit, he demanded something of them, "Do something your people are good at, and turn down this light!"
No response. The door closed, and Etherin was left with a bright light, and a headache.
Riley stared out the vessels side windows nearest his seat, his mind going through a thousand thoughts at once. His thoughts though so many were focused on one thing. His brother. He had been called to Crystilla, a nearby city planet, to come and bail his brother from prison once again for some petty crimes dealing with his smuggling occupation. This had angered Riley for he had warned his brother about going into the whole stupid business, but alas his brother was to hard headed for his own good. It wasn’t really his brothers fault as much as it was his, he had been entrusted to raise him after his parents died and obviously this was a result of his failing his brother. Hitting the armrest of his chair in frustration, he gave a gold glance at someone who was staring at him funny which made them look away quickly. ‘One of my few gifts.’He mused to himself, half smirk half sadly.
Dalkon could feel his pulse quicken as the words hit his ears...
Eyes widening he pulled his staff from his back, "WHO ARE THEY?!"
"I DON'T KNOW! WE'VE NEVER SEEN THEM BEFORE!"
Etherin held a large grin on his face when Dalkon turned to speak to him, "I need you to come with us!"
The warrior stood, grin remaining, "So it begins again..."
Turning back Dalkon hurried for the door and rushed out into the hall. This hallway was enormous, with a rounded ceiling. There was a large window between every four cells, and the walls were colored a very dark navy blue with black and greenish tones.
Alarms were sounding, and bright blue lights flashed wildly. The cell doors were unlocked, and prisoners were escaping. Soldiers were rushing to different posts, trying to get a handle on the situation. The prime warden was nowhere to be seen.
"WHAT DO WE DO DALKON?!" came Lurisace's panicked voice.
"I DON'T KNOW!"
"Perhaps we should get out before they take over or destroy the place...?"
That was Etherin...his voice sounded quite amused.
"FLEE LIKE COWARDS?!" Lurisace shouted, turning to the fire nation warrior, "NEVER!"
"Sometimes it is better to flee to live to fight another day instead of charging uselessly to your inevitable doom...wouldn't you say?"
"TOUGH WORDS FOR SOMEBODY LIKE-..."
"LURISACE!....he may have a point..."
Now Dalkon's friend had turned to him, eyes wild, "HAVE YOU LOST YOUR MIND?!"
"Etherin has a point Lurisace...he's right! We're getting out of here!"
"YOU'RE GOING TO LEAVE YOUR BRETHREN?!"
"We will avenge their deaths another time, but if we don't get out we'll never have that oppurtunity! You can choose to follow us if you want Lurisace, but we're going!"
Dalkon said no more...he was soon off down the left direction of the hallway. Etherin gave Lurisace a small smile before heading off after Dalkon. Some of the prisoners were following them, trying to escape as they were.
Etherin had managed to catch him with Dalkon easily, and turned his head to talk to him as they went, "I want my weapons Dalkon, and my armor."
"We don't have time to stop for those things, Etherin!"
"My sword is my soul, Dalkon, and I need my soul!"
"Fine then, the weapons room is up here through the door on our left! Don't blame me if you get lost!"
As they drew closer to the exit, they were startled to find people walking through...
They wore glinting, mirror-like armor...jet black...with black cloaks. They carried black weapons...guns of some sort...
Dalkon stopped abruptly, but the most of the prisoners kept going. That's when the shooting began...and they started to fall...
Dalkon was hurrying towards a larger door at the far side of the room. There was a hall, shorter than the one on the lowest level. Several of the survivors were panicking, unaware of where to go. This water nation soldier certainly took charge though...from what Etherin noticed. Was it his desire to survive, or to help people? Was it his leadership? A combination of all of them...?
Either way, he came to respect Dalkon to a point. A few bodies littered this floor too, but there were also other soldiers up here, including the prime warden, who was busy giving commands and telling them to keep the door sealed.
"Something's wrong..." Dalkon said softly, "wait here...I'm going to talk to the prime warden."
So Etherin stood where he was. After a time, shouting erupted between Dalkon, a few soldiers, and the warden. Shortly after, Dalkon returned, "They've sealed it off to keep the invaders out...we have no way of escaping now..."
"We'll see about that..." Etherin mumbled as he started to take off towards the warden.
He turned to see the approaching Etherin and had started to rudely ask, "What do you want?" when the warrior threw his fist forward, knocking the warden to the ground. Two of the soldiers grabbed their weapons but Etherin glanced at them, "Do you want to escape, mongrols?"
After saying that he looked down at the warden, who was gathering his bearings, "Open the damn doors so we can get out of here. I'm having a damn good day and I don't need idiots like you screwing it up. Open the doors."
"You damned-!"
Etherin rammed his boot into the man's face, "OPEN THE DOORS, NOW!"
Surprisingly, the soldiers didn't interfere. Perhaps they really did want to escape...
Dalkon was behind him now, "Etherin stop!"
"OPEN THE DOORS!"
The warden coughed and nodded, raising his arm in surrender, "Alright, alright! Open the doors..."
Some of the soldiers were reluctant, but they eventually went into the control room and unlocked the doors, partly because of Etherin's scowl. This was not a man you wanted to disregard...
Etherin chuckled, obviously amused, "Well, I'm with a couple of water nation guys and some other prisoners like myself. Surely you know that people from the water nation are suckers for peace and won't do anything to hurt others intentionally unless necessary...?"
He waited for a response, a small grin on his face. Those of the air nation were quite panicky and about as soft as those of water often times. He also knew that she would probably get attacked if she tried to leave, and she appeared to be a simple innocent girl, hence why he couldn't allow himself to let her leave under the circumstances presented.
Serian Willow's eyes flew open. She gave a muffled cry when she realized that someone was on top of her... someone cold and stiff... someone dead. Using all her megre strength she pushed and kicked at the body until it was moved enough for her to breathe properly and to look at the body on top of her. She screamed when she saw the carnage around her. Her body guards were dead! "Oh Corian! Lucian!" She wept bitterly for them as she tried to remember what had happened. The crew had seemed rather paniced about something, she remembered, she had heard a cry from outside and muffled screaming from inside the "coach" class. She had been given a private, if small room for the journey. She had just turned towards a window to try to see what was going on when Corian had shoved her out of the way and had laid on top of her. There had been a loud crash, more muffled screaming then... She tried to remember as she nursed a bump on her head. Maybe she got knocked out? Yes, perhaps that was it. Either way, she was alone now and her dear body guards had paid the ultimate sacrifice to protect her... just as they had sworn. "Really, I wish you hadn't bothered. I'm just really stuck going to meet that bore of a duke now." She sniffed. "And I won't even have you two around to entertain me." She wiggled the rest of the way out from under her men as she remembered what jokesters those two had been. They had been delightful company for her journey and when they had been assigned to her back at her father's manor. She peeked out the broken window and out into the strange and slightly intemidating new world she had crash landed in. "Well... this isn't Mesmeria OR Trillion. Where in the thousand stars am I?" She quickly decided that she would need a way of defending herself so she grabbed Corian's weapon and gathered all the useful looking things she could, including all the food and water she could stuff in a bag and carry. After she had finished her preperations, she found something to cover up her dear bodyguards and quietly spoke the words of peace and release over them. Whiping the tears from her eyes, she gathered up her things and tried the door. It was blocked from the other side. Not to be deturred, she started throwing items through her cabin at the already broken glass. It wasn't long before she had a nice, safe escape route and a short drop to the ground later, she was free.
