there they were
images and words
all too familiar in your gaze
in the back of your mind
was a tiny hole
small enough to see the students behind you
and suddenly there was a new melody
someone had spoken
a new voice coming from the past
eaves dropping on your memories was a new hobby you picked up in middle school
leaning back into your chair and gently embracing the keyboard with your fingertips
you suggested yourself to go lay in a bed
but you still had chores to do
yet you had been complaining about being bored
in compiling a list of reasons to stay awake, that had been only one of them
empty cups and popcans stand before you like statues
the light coming from the monitor seemed to make the shadows wrap around the desk and come back towards the wall where a gap between your desk and the wall were
like a huge cliff for ants or spiders lurking nearby
have to stay awake somehow...
