Journey through the Realms
Chapter 12:

Evelyn didn't mind walking to Whiterun. She need time to try and think everything over. But after awhile it just gets more jumbled and she finds herself shaking her head. Maybe she should try thinking of something else for awhile. "I've been wondering, where does Entreri come from?" His head cocks to the side, no one has ever asked him that before. "Family name, I think...I always remembered it even after my mother sold me. It was something to hold on to. However I'm not really sure if it came from her or somewhere else. I tried looking it up once, but I found nothing." He shrugs slightly, he didn't really care one way or the other. He was young when he looked into it wondering if he had any family out there. He didn't, but at least he knew for sure. "What about you, Evelyn is unusual." She offers her own shrug to him. "My last name is very, noble sounding. I looked into it, like you did. Didn't really find anything, most of our records were no doubt burned by the Thalmor. You know to cover their tracks." He crosses his arms, tapping his foot slightly. She bites her lip as she looks down. "Trevelyan...and no I don't tell a lot of people that." It's not the most Imperial sounding name there is. But she has no clue whatsoever on where it came from. "Most of my family was dead by the time I tired looking into it. So looks like we're in the same boat." They continue down the path. The weather was nice for a change. A few clouds pass by them, but it was nice and warm. "If I'm noble or not I don't really care. It's just a name."

She looks down as she toys with her fingers. "Besides I think I own enough crap to make up for it. You have any idea how hard it is to not hoard books. I've picked clean most places I've been to because I can't help myself." "I noticed." Her collection can put libraries to shame. "I can't help it! Skyrim has no book stores, it's nuts!" A few court wizards sold books, but it was always the same boring garbage she's read a thousand times already. As they finally start to get closer to Whiterun she starts to feel slightly better. Something about the place always felt like home. She makes a stop at one of the local Khajiit stalls that had been set up so she could sell her junk. Even Artemis gets rid of some of the gems he picked up. He really had no use for them. He takes a moment to examine the gold coin. It was different from what he was used to, but it was still gold. Some home cook food is starting to sound good so she makes her way to Breezehome. She heads in and Artemis follows right behind her. "I'm going to make something to eat." Warm food sounds good as he scratches at his chin. A bath sounds good so he makes his way downstairs to clean up. He unpacks his things as he gets downstairs and removes his armor. The Shrouded Armor she gave him seems to be holding up well. Despite how thin it looks, it's tough. He lays it to the side for now as removes everything else as he gets closer to the water. The tub itself seems to be made of stone, flowers and other plants grow down here, giving it a relaxing scent. He slowly gets into the water, it's a lot warmer then he thought it would be and starts to wash off the dirt.

It was a nice change of pace compared to the cold. He washes his hair, finding a bottle. He gives it a sniff, smelt like lavender. A bit girly for his taste but it's better then nothing. He washes his face, then blinks, looking around the area. There's no mirror down here. The water wasn't clear enough to use that so he would have to wait on shaving. He just cleans the rest of his body and finds a drying cloth. Once dry he slips into his clean clothes, folding his armor for now as he makes his way back upstairs. If there's one thing he can give her credit for, is that her cooking always smells amazing. He sits the armor on a table as he watches her. "Do you have a mirror?" She blinks as she looks up, adding some carrots to whatever she's making. "Um...." She rubs the back of her head. "Upstairs?" She's not even sure if she has one or not. He heads upstairs to her room. Unlike most spaces he's seen when it comes to women. She has no powder containers. No perfume, she does have a small mirror but he can tell she really doesn't use it. He takes it and heads back downstairs. It really doesn't take him long to shave his face. He always uses his dagger, he's more then used to it by now. "Ah so I did have one....actually I think that's Ria's...I'm not even really sure why I borrowed it.." She really can't remember. "I doubt she misses it, she's always giving me something I never use." She adds more to what she's making as she looks around. She wonders off and digs through a few cabinets. She finds some salt and adds it in. Once she was done she hands him a warm bowl. He was more then happy to dig in.

He has no idea what she made, but right now he doesn't care. It's warm and it's better then the crap the inn was serving. "I'm guessing she likes to give you girly items." Evelyn lets out a low chuckle. "She does, paints. I never really did learn that stuff, seems....unnecessary. I mean I'm all for smelling good, but not to the point where I feel like I'm drowning in the stuff. So I stick to more lighter scents. At least this way I don't smell like dirt and fire all the time. I honestly thought I was on fire once...but I think that's just natural." She even sniffs at her arm. "It's not as bad." Once they eat she decides to go check in with the Companions. They seem to be doing just fine as she makes her way downstairs. She ends up at a table, near her room. The same table Kodlak had used so many times. She even sits here he did as she puts her elbow on the table and leans on her hand. She takes a slow deep breath as she closes her eyes for a minute. She hears the sound of a chair moving and her eyes open to see Vilkas joining her. She chuckles slightly. "It feels like yesterday I walked through that door, Kodlak was here, giving you guidance." "Now you're the new Harbinger, though it looks like you can use your own guidance.." She lets out a deep sigh, pulling out the Black Book. Waking Dreams, though it has no words on it, she knows which one it is. She can't help but run her fingers over the cover. "I never realized how confusing this can all be. Being Dragonborn. But I had a little chat with Paarthurnax. Seems I might have a connection to my soul. Or the part of me that makes me, well Dragonborn." Vilkas leans forward a bit. "You never spoke of this before." "I had no idea really until I started having the same vision. But I feel like there's more to it....like I'm missing something. And it's like I can sense it, like this underlining rage." He gives her a nervous look, his eyes darting between her and the book. He knows what it is. He traveled with her to Solstheim, he wasn't able to go with her into Apocrypha and he's a little thankful for that.

She runs her hand through her hair, her gaze turned to her room. "I only have one solution, talk with Mora and see what he thinks. But that's if he's willing to even tell me what I want to know." Vilkas leans back, running his hand over his chin. "It doesn't sound like it would be a bad idea. You have a strange connection with the Daedra." She can't help but laugh, he's not wrong there. "I can't help it people like me, and Daedra. Though I get the feeling they're more interested in my soul then me and that just makes things weird...." She shrugs helplessly as she turns to Vilkas. He was always willing to hear her out. "Thanks for hearing me out. It never hurts to get some outside perspective." "You do seem tired Evelyn, more wore down. If there's any way to help you know I will." She smiles brightly. "Still thank you my friend." Artemis isn't far, hiding off to the side. He doesn't know why he's listening, but he can't seem to help himself. She lets out another side. "I was hoping to use this as a last result, but it looks like talking with Hermaeus Mora is the only route left." She picks up the book, sliding it into her bag. "Question is do I...really want to know? I mean..." Her shoulders drop a bit. "I don't know, it feels so...jumbled, a part of me wants to know more. The other half is slightly afraid of what I might learn." Vilkas leans over slightly, moving closer. "Take the risk, you'll never know otherwise." Her mouth twitches slightly. "Aye, I will." After a minute or so she gets up. She not sure what else to really say so she heads off. The only thing left to really do is travel to Windhelm.

She finds Artemis waiting for her, looking like he's ready to go. Her smile widens at this as she bows her head to him. They leave Jorrvaskr, heading out into the wide open world once again. This time as they leave Whiterun she finds Shadowmere waiting for her. The horse seems to have been waiting here the whole time as she pets him. The horse lets out an angry snort. "I'm sorry okay?" She scratches behind his ear and all is forgiven. She hops on, Artemis already summoning his own horse. The guards still don't seem to thrilled about it, but one look from her makes them back off. She turns and follows the road that will take her to Windhelm. Artemis riding beside her since she knew where to go. It takes a couple of hours to get to the walled city. It's starting to look slightly better under Brunwulf's care. It doesn't look as run down as before, which is nice. and that one fellow that kept harassing the Dark Elves is staying quite after she kicked his butt. He's smart enough to go the other way anytime she shows up. She just smirks and says nothing as she heads for the docks. The Argonian's have a nicer place to sleep now as well. Even the guards are a bit nicer to them. She heads for a small boat, a male Nord greets her. "Evelyn." She bows her head. "Gjalund." She hands him a bag of gold. Artemis frowns, but joins her. He's going to stay near the mast this trip. He really doesn't want another trip into the water. The ship takes off into the open waters and poor Artemis just holds on tightly. She feels a little bad for the guy. She places her hand on his shoulder. "It'll be okay." He doesn't move, but he stays where he's at. He's just fine where he is. At least the ride was short, not that he was paying attention. Once they reach the docks he's off in seconds. She joins him, patting his shoulder still. "This is Raven Rock. Most of Solstheim got destroyed when the Red Mountain blew. You can see the ash still coming out of it." He looks around slowly, before he decides to continue to follow her.

She leads him to her home, Severin Manor. This place is a little less used compared to her other homes. Mostly because she forgets about the place a lot. However she wants to come here because it's safe for her to use the book. Once downstairs to her main room she turns to him. "Now I can take you with me. I spared Vilkas because I was already feeling guilty for dragging him along. Hell I still feel guilty but he wanted to see Solstheim." She holds the book tightly in her hands. "But I've no doubt put you through enough." He stands at her side, crossing his arms. "Well alright then, I will worn you though, Mora is unlike anything you've seen up to now. Try not to stare to much.." He grips her shoulder as she opens the book. The book glows and strange green tentacles slide out of the book. They wrap around them both and soon they find themselves in Apocrypha. He stays very close to her. The sky is this strange otherworldly green glow to it. They seem to be standing on a high tower of sorts, with nothing around them but this strange water. If it really was water. She glances up and soon Hermaeus Mora shows himself. Artemis is now kicking himself as he once again finds himself kind of hiding behind her. "Ah my Champion has returned. I was starting to wonder if you would return here after last time." She shuffles a bit, his multiple eyes make her nervous. He's always watching no matter what she does. "Well you can't really blame me, I killed Miraak I figured I did my job." She takes a minute to gather her nerves. "I need information, from what Paarthurnax has told me. I have a unique connection to my soul. But I feel like there's more to it."

The Daedra lets out a low sound, his tendrils move slowly. "So you don't know, interesting, Miraak didn't know at first either. Not until he became trapped here. You look mortal, but harbor the soul of a dragon. What history fails to tell those like you is how it all fits together. All Dragonborn are reincarnations of dragons that once existed. You feel what they did, see what they saw no doubt. What gives you power is absorbing the souls of other dragons. That's what strengthens your bound." She goes quiet for a moment, just standing there as it slowly sinks in. "So I was this dragon. s**t no wonder it's angry..." She rubs the back of her head as she looks down. Her brows knit the longer she thinks about it. "So...this does make me immortal." "Yes, like your kin, you won't die like most mortals. You'll no doubt survive for countless years and no one would be able to tell. Though that won't protect you." "Right, I can still be killed but I won't die from old age..." She shakes her head, she knew she was missing something, but not this. However it makes a hell of a lot more sense now. "How come Paarthurnax didn't tell me!?" "He no doubt had no idea. It's not something widely known, I only know thanks to Miraak being stuck here for as long as he had been. Though he may have used other means to stay alive. He was always the crafty one until he tried to turn against me." "Bad move, got him killed." She throws up her hands before lowering them to her sides. "Well that answers that I guess." She has nothing left to say so she just pulls out the book and leaves. Artemis blinks, they were safe once again in her home as she puts her book back in her bag.

She takes a moment as she slowly sits herself down on her beg. She places her head in her hands as she closes her eyes. "Well I wanted answers...wasn't really expecting that..." Artemis joins her, sitting at her side. "I guess a part of me should have known...there had to be more then just having the soul of a dragon. I WAS this dragon, no wonder it's the same vision over and over again.." She lets out a frustrated groan. "I didn't ask for this s**t!" She flops back onto her bed, now looking up at the celling. Artemis remains where he is, lost in thought. "So it only effects you because you were able to absorb a dragons soul, the same with this Miraak. There were no dragons for the others before you, so no one knew of this information..." She covers her eyes. "Aye, and I'm the last one until someone murders me or something else kills me." She takes a moment to rub her eyes as she lays there. "So what do I do with myself for the next hundred years? Two hundred, I'm going to turn out like Babette..." She slowly sits up, before her gaze turns to him. "s**t and your in the same precision with that shade you absorbed." She shakes her head slowly. "This is going way over my head..." He turns to her after a moment. "I just take things one day at a time. It's what most elves do. It's really the only thing we can do.." She nods, he has a point it really is the only thing she can do. After all if she thinks about this to much, it's going to drive her insane. The only thing she's stuck with is explaining this to other people she knows. This is going to be, interesting. For now she's going to keep it to herself.

There's no need to worry anyone. "It's strange, but all that anger I felt earlier is gone.." She rubs the side of her chest, near her heart. "I think it feels better that I know, Gods this sounds strange..." She lowers her hand after a minute or so. "We could stay here for a bit, Solstheim is kind of interesting. A walk sounds good.." She gets up after a moment as she turns to him. He doesn't even question it as he joins her. "I promise to not take you to Apocrypha again." "It's not the place that unnerved me..." She lets out a soft chuckle. "I know what you mean, Mora is huge, and all those eyes on you. He's formless and yet terrifying at the same time. For being the prince of knowledge he's massive!" He shutters just a touch, he would die a happy man if he didn't have to go through that again. "Come on, I'll show you around the island. Hell maybe we'll go to the inn and get s**t face drunk. It feels like it's been one of those days." She normally doesn't allow herself to get drunk. Not after what happened with Sanguine. As long as she doesn't try to marry a Hagraven again, she'll be fine. "I however can't promise that I won't start to sing horribly. Because I tend to do that when drunk." He scowls, but he's not about to stop her as they leave for the inn. He doesn't normally drink himself but hell after that he could use one. As strange as it was, it almost felt nice to know he wouldn't be alone. Maybe he shouldn't feel that way, but he finds it hard to ignore as they walk into the inn for drinks.
